Can’t see a Cheltenham thread for 2019 yet so will put this up here.
Tom George stating today that Summerville Boy will stay over hurdles this season, he was an excellent Supreme winner so we know he handles the track and has Festival form.
I reckon Samcro and Kalashnikov will both go chasing so he may essentially only have BVD to beat.
Well worth an early play at 14/1.
September 5, 2018 at 17:14 #1371047They will have needed to teach him how to actually jump hurdles fluently if he is to have any chance in the Champion.
September 5, 2018 at 17:20 #1371053If his hurdling improves he’ll take some beating.
September 7, 2018 at 18:35 #1371947I was massively impressed with him when you consider the severity of his mistake two out and the amount of ground and momentum he lost in the Supreme.
My only reservation is ground i.e. it was unusually heavy ground at Cheltenham this year and if you look at his three wins to date, two have come on heavy ground and one on soft ground. Does anyone know if he has to have give in the ground?
I will watch with interest before committing at this stage
September 7, 2018 at 22:31 #1371954I’ve already had a few quid on If The Cap Fits each way at 33/1.
September 7, 2018 at 23:41 #1371991Good call MOM. Good luck with the bet.
One whom I’m keeping a close eye on is Labaik. Assuming he’s over his injury and assuming he stays over hurdles I think he could give a great account of himself. No money placed yet but I remember Elliott saying after the Supreme he won that ‘nothing could go with him at home’ which I thought was worth taking note of.
Only bet so far is on Buveur D’Air in multiples.
September 8, 2018 at 09:37 #1372251I’m a fan of BVD, he’s superb over his hurdles, but was not particular impressed with his Festival run this year, beating Melon by just a neck, and while Melon is a decent animal he’s not quite top drawer.
Lets face it, BVD isn’t beating much in The UK during the season, his SP in his 3 races prior to The Festival were 1/6, 2/11 and 1/16 and I feel something will improve past him this year, hopefully Summerville Boy!

September 8, 2018 at 11:28 #1372269Saxon warrior wins this. No messing around with the triumph
September 8, 2018 at 11:32 #1372271I agree wex, finally dropping him to 2m should help
September 12, 2018 at 15:53 #1373719Saxon Warrior is an interesting shout alright haha, but I will side with Pants here. I’m not betting just now, but Summerville Boy looks value at 14-1.
September 12, 2018 at 19:59 #1373740Samcro decision decided and they’re taking this on by the moves of the markets.
Generally they don’t make as good a chaser after two seasons hurdling, hope it’s not a case of what could have been with this beast!
September 12, 2018 at 21:25 #1373743I’m less enthused about that Supreme form.
What I will say is that George wasn’t in form at the time ( 3 from 66 in February and March ) so it’s possible that the winner needs marking up.
Also, I think he’ll be better over half a mile further.
September 12, 2018 at 21:29 #1373744Samcro has been hurdling for one season
Edit – Ah, see what you mean now, Kev.
September 12, 2018 at 23:34 #1373755Not got that much of a view on Samcro in that he can go down the hurdle route or chasing, and i’ll still enjoy him the same…
Just hope he makes his seasonal debut at Down Royal

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!September 12, 2018 at 23:45 #1373756Ladbrokes have Samcro at 3/1 for this, shortest price.
Yet are 5/2 biggest price in the win any race market.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 13, 2018 at 02:24 #1373760Can’t see me doing much in The Champion Hurdle this season, as those at the head of the market look strong.
I’d love to see Labaik return, but for now, Sharjah at 50’s, and We Have A Dream 33’s, look very appealing.
