Just announced on Sky Sports Racing that John Oxx will be retiring at the end of the season. A great trainer and a gentleman.
Sea The Stars is one of my all time favourite horses and he trained him to perfection.
And it tends to be forgotten that Sinndar won the Derby, Irish Derby and Arc.
Agree with Matt Chapman that he was not treated well by some owners in later years but he was a credit to racing.
October 12, 2020 at 17:40 #1505831The writing has been on the wall for a while now. If someone as talented as John Oxx feels compelled to pack it in, this does not bode well for the industry on the whole.
October 12, 2020 at 21:36 #1505855For all the well wishes and tributes there will lkely be nothing written on why the Aga Khan and Tsuis moved horses away from Oxx.
Not to suggest there was any serious misdemeanours on Oxx’s part, however somewhat vacant to suggest someone is a master trainer yet not explore why they are unable to make a living from the sport, if it was Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger or Pep Guardiola would the narrative surrounding their demise be so vague ? - AuthorPosts
