Somebody please tell Ed Chamberlin the difference between Alan Johns, the jockey, and Alan Jones, the trainer!
December 27, 2019 at 23:14 #1478282It’s back to normal for Rtv tomorrow
xx.30 Limerick
xx.40 Newbury
xx.45 Catterick
xx.50 Leopardstown
xx.55 LeicesterAll afternoon 5 min gap for 5 jumps meetings
December 28, 2019 at 12:46 #1478358You would not have liked the ‘old days’ then Bachelors Hall when ITV and BBC gave the full results for every race taking place that day.
I have often read a lot of people want those days back.
December 28, 2019 at 16:13 #1478385RTV back to form today, Savills chase split screen with some gaff race from Catterick and then finish interrupted by the start of Leicester race.
They keep making excuses but the incompetence carry’s onDecember 28, 2019 at 21:08 #1478416New Year’s Day
xx.15 Cheltenham
xx.20 Fairyhouse
xx.25 Catterick
xx.30 Musselburgh
xx.35 Tramore
xx.40 ExeterFit all those in without split screens Rtv?
January 1, 2020 at 12:59 #1478665Oh my goodness this is nonsense on rtv today, they even did a split screen between the 12.25 at Catterick and 12.30 at Musselburgh when Musselburgh hadn’t jumped.
January 1, 2020 at 13:33 #1478668Really not good today. Split screens on almost every race.
January 2, 2020 at 03:28 #1478750I have a Sky Sport subscription because I want to watch football. 2019 saw racing added to the sport I can view. In the past few days I watched several races on Sky which have been delayed with the explanation being that it is due to waiting for a race elsewhere, i.e. in Ireland, to finish.
I watch Racing UK races via my bookmaker’s site or after the event with Sporting Life. What a shambles on Jan 1st! Races from Cheltenham and Fairyhouse being shown split screen! Later on there was the same with a race from Tramore. Why cannot Racing UK get its act together? I would not part with a penny for such an inferior service.
January 2, 2020 at 12:07 #1478773Online you can watch the individual stream for whatever race you want to watch
Surely they have to add a red button so people can choose which track they want to watch
January 10, 2020 at 10:06 #1479435Well done to the thick race schedulers again for this Saturday
Lingfield 12.15
Kempton 12.20
Fairyhouse 12.25
Wetherby 12.30
Warwick 12.40 then 15 min gap to next jump meeting

So instead of sticking Kempton at 12.15 and putting Lingfield at 12.20 they now have three jumps meetings with 5 minute gaps all afternoon.
March 8, 2020 at 16:42 #1484973RTV currently doing a “half price for the next 12 months deal”, until midday Tuesday.

August 18, 2020 at 23:00 #1497691Has anyone been able to get Racing TV Extra to Chromecast since the resumption of racing? Just get a static Racing TV screen ever since resumption.
August 19, 2020 at 14:27 #1497800I feel like RTV are seriously screwing themselves over with their business plan. €31 a month is a lot for a single channel, when for €10 more (with no special offers) you can get ALL the Sky channels for a month. A single channel, for a single sport, however much you watch is costly at thirty quid. Add on to that the difficulty in cancelling, in having to ring up and you’re going to get a lot fewer people casually signing up (and the streaming services know they make a lot of money from people who casually sign up, never really consider how much they watch, then not bother to cancel for months after.) €19, cancel online, and I’d have put down my money for it this morning.
This is even worse, for the casual, at-home viewer when you consider they probably make most of their money off the betting shops and pubs (especially in Ireland.)
August 21, 2020 at 00:15 #1498172Well, I have to eat my words now. RTV are doing a £10/€12 a month for a year subscription. You have to subscribe for the full year (although they charge monthly.)
August 22, 2020 at 11:11 #1498410And what of those already paying the full £25/32 eur a month?
August 27, 2020 at 19:03 #1499026The offer wasn’t available to customers using Virgin Media or Vodaphone so I emailed RacingTV to ask why. The response was
“Virgin Media do not allow third party broadcasters on their platform, instead they buy the broadcast rights and provide the service and charge their customers themselves, this is why the cost of Racing TV is inclusive with the Virgin Media bill rather than a separate charge.”
So I then contacted the Virgin Help Forum to enquire whether they could honour the offer within their price structure.Their reply didn’t exactly answer the question but for the record this was a reply from someone who wasn’t a Virgin employee.
“Virgin Media is ALL third party content. They do not own any channels. The difference is they are not an open source platform. Sky’s platform is operated through SES in Belgium. Any broadcaster can do a deal with SES directly & then get an EPG slot from Sky. By law the viewing cards must be open source so any broadcaster can charge customers directly for their service.
There are two types of cable system. The open type system uses CAM units built into TV sets that can be controlled either by the cable operator or another broadcaster. The closed type use STBs & are in the full control of the cable operator. Virgin is a closed system & they directly control the boxes via the headend equipment. Therefore all subscriptions have to be controlled centrally. If you want the ability to record content then a closed cable system is the only option.”
September 5, 2020 at 14:48 #1499988I realise it is not RTV’s fault that a horse spread a plate before the start – but how unsatisfactory that Enable’s race had to be shown on a split screen with a very minor race from Wexford.
There is always a possibility this will happen when the channel is trying to fit in far too many meetings.
