looks like the problem has been resolved with the key line from the spokesman being

"Firefighters cannot, and will not, pick and choose to whom they offer fire safety advice."

    Neither hanging or life sentence!

Voted Labour the last two elections and happen to live in one of the few constituencies (Selby) where the result is marginal. Huge polarisation in the area with a mix of ex-miners and a large farming community saw a predicted torie gain stay with labour, but only just. Think our MP had to take his house back of the market when he heard he was still in.

If an election was called tomorrow with either Blair or Brown as lab leader my decision is still the same and would be in the same camp as Trackside.

There’s more than anecdotal evidence that nicotine may help prevent Alzheimer’s. So lungs *******, brain intact; a FAR better way to end your days than ‘tother way round.

Gasping for breath, in constant pain from secondary cancers, loss of mobility and enduring the indignities of loosing ones independance whilst fully aware of these facts………..

    ………or……………

incontinent, dependant totally on others without the slightest idea of who you are or what is going on.

Seems to me theres less suffering in the latter!
GGD. Your ideas on the NHS fall far short of my experiences. I neither asked or demanded to be cured of helicobacter but my nice doctor diagnosed and cured all the same.
Saying it is of far more a real threat to health than smoking is a gross over statement. Around 10000 people die each year from either gastric ulcers or stomach cancers.(80% of which are estimated to be attributable to the bacteria)
Compare that with 27000 lung cancer deaths (obviously not all attributable to smoking), far more numbers of heart disease deaths, strokes, circulatory diseases and other cancers linked with smoking and your statement makes me laugh.

And people who complain about lack of liberty in not being able light up where they want but expect me and others like me to finance their heart bypass, stroke rehabilitation or childs asthma all caused through smoking make my blood boil!

Rant over. But seriously, have we ever had it so good?;)

    Mystifies me!!

Seems to me that he may be trying to distance himself from the Sven era and Becks is taking the brunt.
I’m no great fan of DB’s nowadays but to leave him out of the england set up is madness, he is a great asset to the team even if he’s sitting on the edge of the subs bench.
90 odd caps, 50 ish as captain and a huge amount of experience. Surely he has something to give to any England squad, especially to the younger players who will have grown up idolising him, even if he is a fringe player.

All very eloquent these muses and writings which make my contribution feeble in comparison, but i feel a supportive lampard for rooney similar to how viera helped out a lone thierry henry against the spanish will see England open up the Portuguese for a stylish win.

Probably pure optimism but as i see it, England and France seem to me to be the most under estimated sides at this stage of the competition.

Quote: from clivex on 11:14 am on June 6, 2006[br]A good speed rating proves that a horse can go fast…i suppose

A "bad" speed rating proves nothing either way

Thats about all there is too it

its been said before but i’m sure its more of

"a good speed rating tells you how bad a horse ISN’T"

nice write up corm. 2nd highest profit on the day for yourself and no mention, very humble mate.
You do have creative reign to BIG yourself up you know. something along the lines of

"……..and in the highest scoring match of the day, where the result was in the balance right up untill the final whistle, Cormack15 showed too much class for the well informed and slightly unlucky 2-y-old tipster, posting a healthy profit of 7.41 points on the day!"

I think it highlights how big a nutter Howard Johnson is, flitting from one decision to another throughout the season where GL did nothing wrong.

I know its upto him and his owners, but kick a man while he’s down why don’t you Howard?

What’s with all the gangster films? Is this forum inhabited by half the Italian mafia? I know you’ve got connections though wils!

Totally forgotten about 12 monkeys Daylight, great film and great soundtrack too!

My favourite films (as i write).

Saving Private Ryan – I went to watch this at the cinema with a handful of brazen and belligerent Army mates (ages ranging from 25-30) and we were all shellshocked at the end with tearful eyes and as the credits rolled the entire cinema took a couple of minutes before anyone stood to leave. Admittedly it is Americanized to the hilt without a mention of the British forces. Did we fight in WW2?

Sleepless in Seattle – Easy viewing for the hopeless romantic in all of us. I think its the young lad and ‘radio confession’ scene that does it for me.

Twelve Angry Men – Classic fifties film starring Henry Fonda. Filmed nearly entirely in the one room in real time it shows the deliberations of a prejudiced jury. Must have cost about tuppence ha’penny to make and i’m sure it must’ve been written for the theatre first but tense and well worth watching.
