ATR’s coverage improved 10-fold today when a certain loudmouth presenter wasn’t on duty.

If it’s not Pour Moi will not win the Derby, or Canford Cliffs needs to quicken twice and will not beat Goldikova, it’s saying that a horse has won a photo finish by a neck when it actually got beat a short head.

Ok, fair enough to the guy for expressing his opinions so strongly, and generally backing them up with good reasoning (most times), but it’s hard to stomach him sometimes when he’s in his loud, cocksure mood.

What you should have asked him was, why didn’t he just put a £100 accumulator on instead – minus Goldikova !

    I did, but he wouldn’t listen :D

People must realise that few of the threads I start are factual. I don’t know any old codgers and I certainly don’t have any friends, but I start these threads with the sole intention of provoking debate.

Sometimes it works (value is nothing thread), sometimes it doesn’t (every other thread I’ve started) :D

And Canford Cliffs couldn’t even win his English Guineas

But a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then hasn’t it? Is it not conceivable then, that Frankel might also get better as this season goes on, just like CC did last year?

You know some funny folk One Eye, a mug punter mate who picks 3 winners and second but still doesn’t satisfy you and an old codger who picks lots of winners but has no idea of value

    Old codger???

    I know of none.

And as for my mate, just trying to educate the bloke… nothing wrong with that is there :D

Thanks for the info people, much appreciated.

Oddly enough, Stonefield Flyer is the horse I’m most interested in. It’s been a long time since I saw a horse run so green first time out.

Trained by 27-year-old Keith Dalgleish, Stonefield Flyer looks a very promising colt to me, and it’s only through watching the progress of this horse – and the subsequent form lines – that my attention was brought to Lily’s Angel.

Close, very close… but no cigar for followers of this horse.

    I’d go;

    Windsor Castle
    Coventry
    King’s Stand
    Queen Anne
    St James’s Palace
    Ascot Stakes

Two exciting two-year olds races to wet that appetite, then the three Group 1s in succession, and wrap the card up with a competitive handicap to keep everyone interested :D .

Not sure we should be knocking Frankel for winning ANOTHER Group 1 by just under a length.

He won the race mid-race, with a burst of speed that the others just couldn’t match; similar to what he did in the Guineas except he got tired a bit quicker today.

Nothing wrong with the manner of his victory today, he remains unbeaten, seven from seven, and is STILL a super star.

Bring on his next race please. A bit more restraint and a step up in trip perhaps?

Less than 10 minutes to go. Very exciting :D

Ginge, or any value seeker for that matter,

At what price do you think Frankel becomes value for tomorrow’s St James’s Palace Stakes?

Or put slightly different, you have £100 to bet on the race and you really fancy Frankel to win. You’re a value seeker remember, a very disciplined one, so you will only back the horse at x odds or better. What odds will Frankel have to be in order for you to push your £100 over the counter?

Not sure if there is such a website, but I would suggest you just compile your list and then for the horses that you’re not sure about then just ask on here. I’m sure you will get an answer.

I can tell you the colours of every winner from 1980 onwards for example, and I’m sure people on here will be able to tell you the colours of the winners from 1946 to 1979.

    Good luck.

Probably down to the owner :D

Everytime I’ve heard Westwood talk about the horse he seems to think it’s the best animal on the planet. Nothing wrong with an enthusiastic owner mind you.

Lol, sorry Rob. On reading back, I’d realised I’d made a bit of a rick in the ‘test’ I was proposing :D

What you say is of course correct, but to me what you say – and the whole process of calculating a tissue to determine (in someone’s opinion) if they are getting value or not – completely over complicates an already difficult task (finding a winner).

Yes there has been a rule change Andrew.

The on-course stewards can now hold an immediate enquiry when a horse is left in the stalls. They’ll take five or 10 minutes looking at the video, and then they’ll decide that the horse didn’t run :D

Seriously, I’m not sure what the criteria is for determining whether the horse ran or not, but yes, they can do it now.

Credit to Flossie, you told us all how she should run, and judging by today you were absolutely spot on.

    Well done Sir.

Winning when the reins snapped and steering and unsteerable horse to victory.

    Did he?

Credit to Ruby for winning, credit to Ruby for not falling off, and yes he is excellent and was brilliant on the night.

But regards the ride in question, he didn’t really steer it did he? Once the reins snapped – after the last hurdle – the horse veered to the left markedly and there was nothing Ruby could do. The horse only straightened and stayed on course because of the rails, i.e. there was nowhere else for it to go (run out).

If The Royal Meeting, The National Hunt Meeting, The Derby Meeting, The Lords Test, Henley Regatta, Wimbledon, Cowes Week, The York&Ainsty at Easingwold, Appleby Horse Fair, Trooping The Colour, The Boat Race and Harrogate Spring Flower Show were all held in the same week in June which would you attend One-Eyed one?

I’d be in Harrogate wearing a Top Hat and Barbour drinking Guinness washed down with stupidly-named Cocktail chasers

Silly Season is early this year :?

But that wasn’t the question posed by the original poster was it? :D

You dodged that original question, implying they are both excellent within their own right (which they are of course), so I just tried to make it easier for you to answer if you so wished. You obviously didn’t wish to choose which is absolutely fine.

It’s just a hypothetical question, a bit of fun as Cormack put it.
