Like Picasso, Da Vinci and all the greats. Walsh is just like them…a beautiful posture…a beautiful set of hands and beautiful balance. His riding tonight at Wexford has been out of this world. Winning when the reins snapped and steering and unsteerable horse to victory. Sitting behind the pace as it collapsed in front of him judging to perfection and sitting quiet on a beginners chase and nab the victory on the line.

June 11, 2011 at 07:50 #360036Picasso was particularly good on the tall angular type prone to wandering off a true line
Da Vinci a master atop the enigmatic filly who keeps a bit back for herself

… whilst Caravaggio specialised in coming from behind with green colts.

June 11, 2011 at 09:36 #360064When Ruby is on song, and you see him getting there on a horse absolutely cruising, for me, it is absolutely poetry in motion. No better site for me in racing personally. Perfect example was Big Bucks winning at Aintree this year.

Did he?
Credit to Ruby for winning, credit to Ruby for not falling off, and yes he is excellent and was brilliant on the night.
But regards the ride in question, he didn’t really steer it did he? Once the reins snapped – after the last hurdle – the horse veered to the left markedly and there was nothing Ruby could do. The horse only straightened and stayed on course because of the rails, i.e. there was nowhere else for it to go (run out).
June 12, 2011 at 23:45 #360396Superb Replies folks,
He is also like Botticelli a indvidualist person…..a man who speaks without the usual gibberish. A straight shooter!

He is AN artist.
