Sole Power wins this. Has all the necessary conditions and it is custom made for him. Unless Bated Breath is layed out for this, sole Power wins.
It’s the game Mighty M. You know, I know it, Jonjo knows it. If your not playing then your getting burned!
I find it hard to imagine that Jonjo didn’t actually believe Sunnyhillboy was going to fire in the December Gold Cup. McCoy would not get on a loser when he had the chance to ride the winner – unless that horses was the Gold Cup winner.
Sunnyhillboy your legend. He travelled on the outside for 4m4f and covered around an extra furlong than the rail (I don’t know but it seems that much!). A little horse that everyone was worried about his size and his jumping going into the race. He runs his heart out and is as genuine as they come. McLernon didn’t need to hit the horse 4, 5 or 6 times – the horse was at full tilt and had run around 5 miles.
Sunnyhillboy you little ripper!
(I did not back him each way by the way!)
Absolutely incredible horse. Brave as the proverbial lion and diminutive enough to take into your heart. Winner of two nationals andtwo Grade 1s including the Cheltenham Gold Cup. I know when people say he is not much to look at they mean in a purely racing point of view but he was a very attractive looking horse. The big white blaze on his face, sturdy and compact. I thought he was a beautiful horse. But, he is no more important than any other horse and deserves to be treated like any other 9 yo at the top of his game, a competitor, and a great one at that.
This comment is not only meant to commemorate a fantastic race horse but to gain some perspective with regard to all horses lives and not put the value of one horse over another. While we are willing to risk the lives of some horses in some races, there are inherent risks with all racing. Any horse sent out on the track increases its chances of injury and one race can never be blamed for that risk turning to tragedy.
I want to extend my condolences to JP McManus who cares for his horses as much as any owner and more than many. Also to Jonjo for whom this is a second similar tragedy and will likely open old wounds. And to the champion AP who will share as much pain as anyone on these forums or anyone else who is upset by the loss of Synchronised.
This is one horse that will certainly NEVER be forgotten.

Western Charmer
was well handicapped last year beating home 24 of his 25 rivals only to be beaten by a thrown in 6yo. He is an incredible price considering. Sunnyhillboy was behind him – a Cheltenham winner off a similar mark. Both he and Organisedconfusion seem to have been campaigned for this part of the year as was Sunnyhillboy so no surprise to see no form until Spring.
Arabella Boy
hasn’t shown his hand yet I don’t think. He’s still only young and hasn’t had as much luck as others. Looked immature last year and his latest performance has indicated, to me at least, that he’s coming of age and progressing in the way he was expected to.
Osana
is my kamikaze bet (a paltry 2.50 ew!). He’s well handicapped on old form and worth a shot at a trip. Goes against all accountable stats but should be fun to see how he gets on.
Glad to hear someone else fancies First Post. I think he likes a strong pace over a straight mile. Hopefully he will be on song today and get at least some of the place money.
GL!
Game On Dude in the car park unfortunately. Had to be someone though.
As for Ballydoyle undercooking their horses. They’re not going to send out G1 horses to Dubai undercooked. That is impossible to believe. Maybe at The Curragh but not in the desert!
You still seem preoccupied by his background. He rides the horses out everyday, he is an accomplished jockey who is best placed to ride the horse. I’m not trying to say he is the best jockey in the world but putting him on board has advantages that no other jockey has. He lives with the horses and the trainer. We all know that Coolmore, and any one else for that matter don’t work with just the best, they work with people they can trust and rely on. Joseph has shown (because he has been given the opportunity) that he can handle the pressure, can execute a plan from any position in the race, he is 100% loyal to Ballydoyle and he is one of the best jockeys for the job. Your arguments are coloured with a resentment for his privileges and not the bare pros and cons of having him ride the horses. Your position on the matter just not objective.
Well, I’ve looked it up hence and it doesn’t communicate my point the way I intended so I’ll rephrase.
What I actually mean is that it sounds like you don’t like the fact that he gets the ride for the reasons you outlined, ie, he’s the son of the trainer. It sounds like your bitter about his privileged position. Your post doesn’t appear to give him credit for his achievements and focuses only on the fact that he’s been given these opportunities when others have not.
Who cares where JP would be without Coolmore. He’s there and shown that he’s god enough to ride their horses.
As Alex Ferguson says: "If they’re good enough, they’re old enough"
Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Burton Port is the proverbial barge atm on Betfair.

Non runner fo sho.
If they get some water I’d be a big fan of
Neptune Collonges
. He’s run some very creditable races this year and he looks like he needs the trip to get his head back in front. He will go from the front (if he gets there and can stay there) and that’s a big plus in this race. I backed him straight after his last run and would hope I’ll get a run. It’d be great to see him run well regardless
Joseph is a good jockey, it’s a shame that you can’t see he is as good as any jockey available and probably the best in respect of the fact that he lives with the horse. I take exception to your comment.
Giles Cross won’t get 4 1/2 miles.
Already been placed in a Midlands and an Eider, albeit some way back, and has won over 3m4f twice already this season.

I was very fond of Abergavenny.
