Another day in profit and another day absolutely gutted!! RIP both. Was sat waiting patiently to hear news of the lovely Abergavenny – one of my faves

But what happened to them? Why is this the first I’ve heard about them?
Pretty sure Abergavenny was a faller early on. Commentator thought it was him and then wasn’t sure – but he wasn’t mentioned again.
Palawi – good looking chestnut – was striding out well at Southwell a/w and looking good then his hind leg went. He was still so keen to run on that his jockey had a heck of a job to stop him. Such a shame. RIP.
Abergavenny had to be pts after breaking an elbow in a heavy fall. Very big field in Coral Cup – 28 I think – quite a cavalry charge …
RIPRIP Abergavenny and Palawi
Really feared for the riderless Cotton Mill in the Neptune Novices Hurdle won by Simonsig when he fell heavily at the last hurdle, he lay on the ground as other horses passsed him but thankfully was just winded and got up. Never heard a mention of him on Channel 4, on the replay they just blanked it out, thank goodness he was ok.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...This is very sad. Don’t think either was mentioned on TV. I think the TV and radio people covering racing should have a duty to report all fatal injuries to horses. It’s a great sport, but this is definitely its downside – and it shouldn’t be covered up.
Just read about Palawi after seeing the replay this morning, but didn’t know about Abergavenny. Did see the fall and hoped both fallers at that hurdle got up okay, but sady not Abergavenny.
RIP, both.
I was very fond of Abergavenny.
