Himalya looks a very interesting type. His last race at Newmarket saw him just held over 6f pulling away from the field. I’d very much like to be on his side. It looked like he was inching towards the winner at the line and the extra distance would see him trouble the judge. He has a LOT of speed to be competitive over 6f.
He’s by Danehill Dancer out of a Barathea mare so the pedigree says he’ll stay.
He has an entry in the Wokingham though and seems fancied for that. (25/1 while he’s 40s for the Hunt Cup!) Maybe thats just because he’s never run over 8f and the public expect him to go over 6f
I might be inclined to take the 40s for a tiny stake because hes never run over the 8f and looked as if that was the obvious place to go. His sole start over 7f saw him a length off the winner in a listed race at Kempton.
Thoughts?
Kingsgate Native should go for the Kings Stand, theres always an option to go for the GJ if he comes out ok.
Starspangledbanner is the one for me. I’m aware of O’Briens dip in form but that could just be the horses ability this year. Fame and Glory seems to have nothing wrong with him and I fancy Starspangledbanner will go well after his first run for the yard. Australian sprint form must be given creedence and Starspangledbanner with time to settle and a run should be the pick.
I just hope I don’t have to type his bloody name too often

I was on Saptapadi in that race and I’ll be with him again in the Gold Cup. Full brother to a tried and tested stayer and ran brilliantly in that race considering he was ridden to get the trip, I think he has a good chance and believe he will stay. I just hope he’s ridden with confidence
TBH, Total Gallery makes a lot of appeal after running well with a group 1 penalty last time. 5l off Kingsgate Native with 7lbs pull – I’d fancy him to go very well. If your a betting man 14/1 looks a bit silly. His only appearance at Ascot didn’t go well but he looks a different prospect now
Correction – 1 out of 2 at Ascot, won there on his first start as a three year old.
Ah crap! Thats why Hill ran him at Goodwood the other day then

He is very lowly rated…Thanks for pointing that out.
Same case applies for Truism then.Acrostic was put up by Gary Nutting tother day on ATR. He’s been running well lately and is sure to be involved…
My second choice would be Surour then. Good reappearance at Chester last month and David Simcock has a reasonable record at Ascot. Looks still to be progressing having beaten Shamwari Lodge last year. he has speed and form over course and distance (seperately) and in big field handicaps. Steadily rising in the weights he may not be near done yet.
And judging by the amount of pages this thread has reached in a short space of time you are proving a valuable contributor. Creating debates like these are what these sites are all about in my opinion. No ones right, no ones wrong, everyone is
entertained
!
Got to agree with that as it certainly kept me entertained for 10 minutes reading it.
Best stuff I’ve read since the "Da Vinci Code"

It only took you ten minutes?!!
Ok, now I know I’m slow!

This is why I miss the start of every race cause I’m still buried in the paper!

My fledgling learning curve goes as follows
1) The track condition and the horse behaviour pre-race are paramount.
2) As has been said; you can bet every race, doesn’t mean you should. Pick wise and patient.
3) Stay away from US Racing. It’s like another language.I’m learning fast with my own judgement with little experience. 1 & 2, will probably never change but theres room for a big lesson in 3….watch this space!
I really dont understand what you mean. I’m a little over my depth with these things tbh. I wont drag it out of you but I reckon you mean the prices are extremely low in place backing.
When you say less than ‘1/4’ and ‘1/5’ you mean – of the runners that pay?
I’m not familiar with the always trying trainers but I’m gonna do some research for my self. As for getting an advantage, well, I’m a long way off gaining that edge.
Biggest goldmine in racing place laying "always trying" when the e/w price is out of line on BF. As brazen as you like, but nothing gets done.
I’m not sure I get you
I knew that Adrian, but
1/4 of 20 = 5.
1/5 of 20 = 4
Is there often an exception to this?
It seems really stupid. Although I realise the logic behind the price I was given!
I think I’ll stick to the exchanges regardless of the tote paulostermeyer.
