I wouldn’t be surprised if Ogee wins, but at the prices, I just have a sneaking feeling for Take the Breeze. The ground may well porve too lively, but it will help him get the extra distance in this and I think he’ll prefer this flatter track (I know he’s won round Exeter twice but his best run was probably Newbury)

Forpady and Kalahari fight this one out for me, although I have doubts about Kalahari getting this trip. I know he has won a weak novice chase and a novice hurdle over this trip, but neither was a grade 1 and they will go a proper lick round here.

I’d be surprised if he wins it, almost shocked. He’s a great player, but this is Augusta and its got the better of him more often than he has when he’s been on form, so how will he handle it off a break? H’ed be a lay in my book.

I’m really finding Haye very hard to warm to, I wish he’d learn a bit of humility to go with his talent. I agree he’s so far only beaten washed up and poor heavyweights, but the division is very thin and this was a manditory defence. I’m not so sure about the Klitchko brothers and whether he’d beat either of them, but its the obvious fights (or at least one of them). Unfortunately though, they don’t always happen in boxing so we’ll just have to wait and see.

    Only on selected races.
They are usually on the board in the shop!!
Its normally only one or two races a day!!

I believe its only in areas where they have competitors that do similar. The 2 Coral shops most local to me don’t, but one near where I work that is close to a Betfred does. A bit like some of the "big3" offereing enhanced bonuses on bets like lucky 15s when in direct competition with others.

Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of kudos rightfully given for horses who win conditions races giving weight away, but people still list the grade/group 1s a horse wins over what in many cases can be superior performances, definitely in this day and age. And the first thing the Beeb will say on Thursday after the National talk will be how many grade 1s they now have and I’m sure the racecourse will be banging that drum too.

I always thought it was a horse that went best fairly fresh, so I will be looking to What a Friend.

I don’t see anything wrong with the races being upgraded, surely if the overall level of them is high, then they deserve more prize money and an increased status. I don’t see a grade 1 race as being a championship race, but merely a race which can attract the best possible field.
As for them replicating Cheltenham, well its a different type of course, but gives horses not suited to Cheltenham a chance to compete and win at that level. And also gives an opportunity for those who for whatever reason missed the Festival.
As for the whole issue of penalties in grade 2s, I’ve never understood why some grade/group 2 and 3 have different penalties anyway and if it encourages better horses to take part, then why not.

I thikn they’ll stick to miles, although they may try a 10f race at some point too.

The Fellow deserves an honorable mention. Came awful close to a hatrick.

Totally agreed with this, until the next message reminded he only won 1 too

Well here we are again Saturday and Sunday at Doncaster followed by two AW meetings Monday, nothing at all on Tuesday two more AW meetings Wednesday and a real bonanza on grass at Folkestone on Thursday (I can hardly wait)followed by another dose of AW on Saturday. What a shambles! Racing for Change you couldn’t make it up

While I am no fan of RFC, wasn’t the current fixture list sorted way before they go invlolved? And if the date of Doncaster is always going to be set in stone, then there is always going to be a steady start until we get to Newbury and the Greenham meeting. There’s no point having loads of meetings if horses are ready to run, you’d only get small fields, meetings off because of rain and then people would only complain about that.

He could also run in both – the gap between Ayr and Auteuil is about the same, if not longer, than that between the Gold Cup and Ayr.

Surely that would be more than too much for him and would have him in training a hell of a long time.

Flat: Giant’s Causeway with a close second going to Bosra Sham
Chasers: Young Kenny with Seven Towers not too far away.
Hurdlers: Deanos Beano and I also had a soft spot for Ned Kelly.

I think it will be interesting, although he is far from a certain runner. Turning the race into a conditions race would make the next few highest rated runners worth considering, but the fact they could include horses like Madison Du B and Halcon G is a little off putting.
My intial reaction was to think about value elsewhere, and come the day I probably will look to oppose, not least because he is a horse who they say needs time between races and was trained for the Gold Cup. I appreciate Nicholls often changes his tune with his big 3 (Kauto, Denman and Minded) in terms of what they need etc, but I can help thinking after thoughts never work.
As for why British trainers don’t go to France and even when prize money levels were still high, Ireland, it amazes me. Then they will complain about the state of racing here, yet the clear answer is to be a bit more adventurous.

Well I said when George Washington came back from failing at stud, they should have cut him and tried him over hurdles and only half jokingly

    Because it’s rubbish :D

Well don’t watch it or bet on it. Or should we just close the Aw tracks? But then there are a fair few "gaff" tracks we’d have to get rid of too because the standard of racing there is pretty poor.
