I agree with the fact that its not the best meeting at Newbury but remember that next Saturdays meets at Ayr,Chepstow and Sandown will be even worse,

For me though i quite like the slightly lower class of racing and if i could i would have gone to Ludlow on Thurday as opposed to Newbury today.

Dont forget that Doncaster had a decent Grand National trial and Kelso had a Grade 2 novice hurdle.

Racing is not all based around the southern course you know

I was at Donny last time they had the Grimthorpe and the same thing happened then so it is something which will happen again in the future.

The course should have run the chases first if they knew low sun would affect the racing.

As for Kelso it is pot luck at any meeting

One thing which is missing from Nad al Sheba is a nice 3m4f chase for horses rated 0-95,

Racing Post for me for the form and along with Attheraces fpr the viewing of races as it is free compared to 10p and 20p on the Post.

For International races Youtube is a god send for seeing top french jump races at Auteuil,Pau etc.

If Exotic Dancer is to win at the festival then surley the QM or the Ryanair could be the one to gor for.

Exotic Dancer has had hid heart broken many times now by Kauto Star and may be a shadow of his former self if he is mentally unsound.

I do believe that Barry Geraghty should ride him as he gave him a great ride at Haydock as AP will not be 100% in my view.

Just so you all know i think this is how everything occured.

Firstly the original Racing Channel which was £20 a month for all UK races with the odd irish meeting depending on the weather was the first to begin, the only meetings not shown were the ones on BBC and C4 but the shoulder races where.

Then old attheraces began and took 49 courses apart from 10 GG media tracks and began to operate originally free with the RED button interactive betting as a main source of income but they had to go to adverts to help bring money in and in the end they went for a burton.
Before they went the original RC lasted with just £5 a month subscription for 10 GG media tracks,South African racing andIrish racing which stopped when the Irish Racing authorities didnt want their racing to be shown and in 2002 i think it was they decided to end.

We then had a few months of no racing on cable or digital at all apart from BBC and C4 until RUK began with their £15 a month package and now is part of the Setanta Sports package which means u can also get 48 live Premier League games as a bonus and after racing on Saturdays u can catch the 5.15pm match

ATR began the friday before Royal Ascot and uses adverts and although people do not like ads it is good to have all 59 soon to be 60 odd UK racecourses and all 31 Irish racecourses spread over 2 channels.

Personally we need both channels to merge and make ATR part of the Setanta deal

1 channel to show the UK racing and the other to show Irish racing aswell as big meetings from France,Germany and even South Africa as they are major racing nations like ourselves.

dont forget that Jimmy Lamb had both runners in a 3m2f Cartmel novice chase a few years back and that went ahead ok.

If Paul Grayson needs his horses to have a run then whats wrong with what he is doing, if prize money is their then why not try and win it aslong as all horses run on their merit

Dont forget that on the Wednesday they have racing i think at Auteuil for some proper action and Thursday at Saint Cloud with trotting at Viccenes on the Friday night.

You could have a big racing bonanza and a damn sight cheaper than UK racing prices.

I would love to know who buys the horses for him and if indeed how much they charge JP because a lot of the time some of the horses can be absoloute dross and not fit for pulling Steptoes cart.

Franchoek is class mind you it was at Haydock last summer when he ran in a 1m6f handicap i turned to a friend of mine and said that we have probably seen the Triumph winner.

To my mind the festival has 24 races in total so start on a Saturday at 12pm and with the aid of floodlights we could race the whole event in one day with a Gold Cup at about 7pm with complete take over all channels to see the greatest sporting event in the world take place

In days of old the National used to be on a Friday but with a Saturday it is of course a huge event.

The Melbourne Cup is on a Tuesday and this is the biggest race in Australia and yet 100,000 people attend.

I think it wont be long before we get a Saturday Gold Cup with the Midlands National being moved to a Sunday or even being moved to Cheltenham if the festival god forbid gets moved to a 5 day event.

On the flat the International at York which is a premier 1m2f race is run on a Tuesday so will that be moved to a Saturday.

I think it was John Hislop who wrote that mercifully they don’t have jumps racing at Newmarket otherwise loose horses wouldn’t be caught until they’d reached Cambridge.

Dont forget that York used to hold jumps races in days of yesteryear.

If i had my way id axe the course enclosure at York and build a new jumping track on the inside

If we had a 2m4f Graded novice chase then Tidal Bay would win as i dont think he has the speed for 2m.

Noland is improvinmg all the time and will be the one to beat in the Arkle as long as he keep on song.

Dont forget in the Supreme Novices he beat the likes of Sublimity,Sweet Wake,Buena Vista,Natal,Crow Wood and Jazz Mesenger so it is fair to say he is the class horse of the race

Dont forget that Newcastle play Man Utd at 5.15 so the crowd may be on the small side and it is only on Plate day that the place sells out i imagine so all should be okay id imagine.

I myself like hearing the sound of the turf or sand aswell as the noise of the horses jumping over the hurdles and fences as it adds that little bit more to the coverage.
