Can anyone offer any reasons why they would choose to close the account?
Because they’re mug-hunting ****?
Edited:
-Andrew Mount, pretty good column.
You’ve mixed up the phrase "pretty good" with "******* fantastic". I’m amazed this guy hasn’t been offered a column in the Weekender.
The young man in question is a big Diamond Harry fan and will be coming to the Festival this year…I got this email from the guy who administers the Paul Duffy Diamond Syndicate…
"Hi All
For all those music lovers and racing fans within the partnership, I felt I should copy you all into the email I have received from one of Diamond Harry’s greatest fans. Mark is only thirteen and is coming over from Ireland for the Cheltenham Festival week to see his favourite horse DH. I will be meeting up with him and his parents at the course and hope we can all make his week one to remember.
What do you all think and have you any ideas to help make it even more memorable (I will get some photos downloaded as a start I’ll see if I can et Daryl to sign them). I think it would be a really nice touch.
We also have Diamond Harry fan coming down from Yorkshire.
Graham"
If it ain’t broke…
I know the staff are dreading being taken over by Betfred.
But he appears to be the front runner.
Not the best employer or sponsor around is he.What’s wrong with Betfred?
Never trust a man who insists on plastering his own boat race over his advertisements
I think kids should be educated about gambling at an early age, as they are about sex. Then perhaps they won’t try to sneak into Ladbrokes and play slot machines at the age of 16 or buy lottery tickets. Instead, they’ll be outside hassling adults to put each-way doubles on two 5-1 second favourites in 9-runner novice hurdles.
If you’ve ever heard Eddie Ahern speak you’ll realise he’s not the brightest. After all, this is the jockey who deliberately committed a whip offence so he could go on holiday. It was just an ill-judged ride, IMO.
Doesn’t go far enough in my opinion – we need nicknames..
‘Plotter’ Prescott
‘Chubby’ Nicholls
‘Mad dog’ McCain (retired)
‘Cheaty’ (insert as applicable)Warwick off
Fiddlers Pike! That was the other one I was trying to remember – thank you! Rosemary Henderson in full ‘agricultural’ mode.
They are also going to introduce the following on racecard for overseas punters….
N.O.T. – not off today
T.D. – trying today
T.D.B.O.I.O.G.O.A.R.P.O.W.P.I – trying today (but only if owner gets on at right price, otherwise we’ll pull it)
P.M. – pacemaker
P.M.F.W.B.S.M – pacemaker for well-backed stablemate
P.M.F.W.B.S.M.R.B.M.G – pacemaker for well-backed stablemate ridden by my girlfriend (see any one of several recent Kieren Fallon rides)cost cutting measure apparently. Hills tried this a while back but came back to Oddschecker. Guess they get fed up of only laying the ones on which they were top price and paying percentage to oddschecker when they get beat.
6m chase on heavy ground at Chepstow – Just So v Cythere v The Risky Viking (the first horse I owned a share in).
Was not far from Warwick myself tonight and all seemed fine but temps could reach a low of minus seven tonight/tomorrow, allegedly.
What are the typical travelling costs involved in running in France?
Edit:
and also are the entry fees much higher?
Guess you’d be looking at £2000 – £3000 for entries/travel costs/staff wages etc etc for one horse.
Nick Williams ran Shalimar Fromentro in a conditions hurdle (4yo non-thoroughbred colts and geldings) at Auteuil on 30 Septemer, the 32-1 shot picking up almost £10,000 for finishing a 10-length second to the favourite. He ran in a Grade 2 hurdle at Chepstow next time where the winner, Silviniaco Conti, picked up just £14,000 for his troubles.
Master who?
