I actually think this hype has reached a point where the proven horse Miss Marjurie is a value bet. She’s nearly 4/1.
Bateel certainly has promise with strong form, impressive performances and Spencer going to the track for one ride – but the truth is that she needs an enormous career best.
I won’t be surprised if she wins but think the value is with the class horse now.

Indeed – the second-raters and has-beens were sold at the Cheltenham sale last week. One-time Arkle hopeful and well-handicapped hurdler Three Kingdoms was probably the most notable one to be offered at the auction there.
Most of those named in the OP will go to Charlie Appleby to be campaigned on the flat. I understand dear old Sea Lord has been retired to a good home via the Darley scheme, though.
Hold on tight to that bandwagon!
What an interesting race that was. The ground was quite quick at the time of the first race, closer to Good than Good to Soft.
Create A Dream did not look particularly big in the paddock, but she was certainly green and joined Daningy in making quite a racket pre-race. In contrast, Brocklesby winner The Last Lion was the picture of professionalism. Create A Dream does have the trademark Wesley Ward muscle definition with powerful hind quarters. Again, you could say the same about Daningy.
In the race itself, Daningy was terribly unlucky and put in a huge performance despite being green and losing at least four lengths in ground/momentum when wiped out by The Last Lion. Create A Dream was holding on well at the line and may have found more if tackled by the closer, but it’s hard to be too dogmatic about that.
Both the winner and upgraded second should improve from this experience on the evidence of the parade ring. The form of the Brocklesby hasn’t worked out very well but The Last Lion is still a good yardstick given his precocious maturity. An even faster surface is sure to help both.
It’s worth noting that Richard Hannon and Potensis Bloodstock (who won this race last year with Log Out Island) had a newcomer entered until the five-day stage. I forget the name, but that will probably be an above-average horse when we see it.
Any other TRFers going to Ascot on Wednesday?
I’ll post a few snaps of Create A Dream if she stands her ground for the opening race.
White Men Can’t Jump….neither can Un De Sceaux.
How can you judge pace perfectly when you give ‘UDS’ a fifteen length lead jumping the last and lose by 1 length? Of course its pocket talk,I was happy to be 2nd to ‘Sprinter’ at 16/1.Anyway its blatantly obvious that Dodging Buliets is next years Ryanair winner at 33/1.

Dodging Bullets was borderline outpaced from the off, STD was busy in the saddle throughout. It looked like he knew not to go for broke too early due to the risk of wasting what little Dodging Bullets had to offer. The wily rider nursed the horse round for as much prize money as possible and got as close as he could.
If Dodging Bullets wins a Ryanair, I’ll be tempted to give the game up. He looked a shaky stayer at two miles until last season and a testing 2m 5f would be way beyond this son of Dubawi.
I disagree and think Mullins did the right thing. His loyalty is to his owners, who buy his incredible horses and make the yard what it is.
He was already out on a wacky limb by entering Vroum Vroum Mag into such an obscure race where the risks far outweighed the rewards. This mare could win at the next three or four Cheltenham festivals if Mullins manages her well. Running this heavy-stepping type at a meeting that has a history of damaging the tendons of previously sound horses looked like a bad idea all along.
Excellent decision by Mullins. Sandown in April is pretty savage on the tendons – it made no sense to risk VVM’s career in the toughest race of her life.
White Men Can’t Jump….neither can Un De Sceaux.
And Sam Twiston-Davies cant judge pace!
Surely he judged it perfectly to win as much prize money as possible. Smart ride from Sam and pocket talk from TAPK imo.

14:20 Sandown – Voix Du Reve
16:10 Sandown – Gold Futures
15:50 Ripon – Handsome Dude18:35 Doncaster – Forge
19:05 Doncaster – Bedrock
17:20 Sandown – Thomas Crapper
16:15 Limerick – RadanpourI like the idea of taking UDS on. I think it was the ground rather than Special Tiara that got him beaten at Cheltenham.
The ground isn’t a convincing argument with Dodging Bullets though – at his best he is effective on anything. I think he has never quite caught up after being in a box during the crucial part of his season.
I’ll have a very small stab at Sire De Grugy in the hope that he rolls back the years at his favourite racecourse. If Sprinter Sacre (who was legless at the end of the Champion Chase) also fails to perform, then he is the only alternative. The vibes were bad for SDG before the Champion Chase with blinkers discussed but left off before a dire performance. 14/1 seems absurd for the Tingle Creek winner, especially when he was one slick jump away from taking down Sprinter Sacre at Christmas.
What’s the verdict on Gold Futures?
He is quite unexposed over long distances and should have sharpened up from his run on unsuitable ground behind Many Clouds. His last relevant run saw him beating subsequent winner (and Scottish National flop) Sraidnahanna, which looks like quite a decent piece of form.
Brian Harding is not my favourite jockey, but still – that’s probably where my money will be going.
