“On Vautour’s run Mullins said: ‘It looked to me as if the two mile trip was too short for him. I didn’t think it would be’ “. It was bleeding obvious to most of us on this forum. I always rated him as a trainer but perhaps he’s not as good as I thought!
Where on this forum has anyone given even a hint of this
April 27, 2016 at 08:16 #1243702Plenty on here hinting his target should of been 2 miles. Plenty also saying he doesn’t stay 3+ miles.
Personally I think he’s a Gold Cup horse, his form at Cheltenham shows he acts well on the course and for me his run at Kempton on a course that did not suit puts him bang in the mix. His speed has been his downfall in that Mullins/Ricci don’t like to run them against each other and the Ryanair was there for the taking. On the bright side this should rule out Vautour for next years Champion Chase as I want Douvan in that.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 27, 2016 at 09:14 #1243706Is this the Aftertimers supporters club thread?
Why do so many care if Willie Mullins gets it wrong? Surely it creates a great opportunity to make money if you are right and he is wrong?
April 27, 2016 at 10:04 #1243709Annie power out of punchestown. VVM replaces her in the champion hurdle
April 27, 2016 at 10:19 #1243710Nichols canyon appears not to be running in punchestown either. Maybe after yesterday he has realised that horses who ran hard races in Cheltenham and Aintree are just better left on the sidelines for punchestown. Wonder will we see Annie over fences

Shame the Ryanair would be perfect for her
April 27, 2016 at 16:14 #1243737Because of the Vroum Vroum Mag shenanigans Limini has gone from 5/1 to 4/5, than back to 5/1 and now she is 8/11 for the Mares Hurdle. What a farce.
You could now also have done your dough in two races Vroum Vroum Mag was going to compete in, one of them at well odds on.
Still you can back her a third time to try to get your money back, or can you?
In a last minute twist Vroum Vroum Mag may be set to take on Mark Selby at the Crucible where she is a slight favourite due to the Mullins factor.
As to Vautour his narrow second in the King George to Cue Card is his head and shoulders best performance of the season. I didn’t see a big list of forum users urging us to lay Vautour at two miles, so it reeks of after-timing to claim it was such a no brain decision after the defeat.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 27, 2016 at 16:20 #1243738Steve none of that is Mullins fault, except perhaps withdrawing VVM. Prices of horses should be irrelevant to a trainer
April 27, 2016 at 16:32 #1243739Ante post betting on races like that is a minor irrelevance.

Most certainly it is but this carry on means it is totally pointless trying to get on early.
With all this switching around and the incredible amount of hot odds on shots getting stuffed it’s been a Punchestown to forget.

Very good Stevie. I’m just going to bookmark this thread for later this season when the inevitable Johnny G bashing starts the minute he withdraws a horse.

April 28, 2016 at 17:03 #1243813Mullins shocks might not be done yet given Douvan’s flattish jumping style. I’ve place laid him.
April 28, 2016 at 17:31 #1243829Hold on tight to that bandwagon!
April 28, 2016 at 17:39 #1243832He looks very alert around the parade ring.
He wont fall though as he has the attributes of a cat according to Mullins. Whatever that means perhaps he has sharp claws or something. Next years Champion Chase winner.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
