UDS looked so fizzy today, I thought he was bordering on out of control. Might have been missing Ruby, but the horse wants settling. Whether they can achieve that, I don’t know, but it’s worth trying; he must have some engine.

Sprinter isn’t no where near what he was so the race again Douvan isn’t really a race. Douvan would hammer him easily…if it was Douvan vs the old sprinter now that would be some race! Douvan is very special

White Men Can’t Jump….neither can Un De Sceaux.

How can you judge pace perfectly when you give ‘UDS’ a fifteen length lead jumping the last and lose by 1 length? Of course its pocket talk,I was happy to be 2nd to ‘Sprinter’ at 16/1.Anyway its blatantly obvious that Dodging Buliets is next years Ryanair winner at 33/1. B-)

Dodging Bullets was borderline outpaced from the off, STD was busy in the saddle throughout. It looked like he knew not to go for broke too early due to the risk of wasting what little Dodging Bullets had to offer. The wily rider nursed the horse round for as much prize money as possible and got as close as he could.

If Dodging Bullets wins a Ryanair, I’ll be tempted to give the game up. He looked a shaky stayer at two miles until last season and a testing 2m 5f would be way beyond this son of Dubawi.

Sprinter isn’t the horse he was maybe but he’s still pretty damn good. Douvan has not yet run to a level that suggests he’s as good as Sprinter Sacre I’d confidently back Sprinter to beat Douvan right now. Next season is a different story. Sprinter will be another year older and a natural decline may be on the cards. Couple that with the fact that there is always now going to be a bit of fragility about him and his heart lasting as it currently is Douvan could well rise to the top next season.

    Good post IBRacing.

There’s no way Douvan would’ve hammered Sprinter in yesterday’s race (if anything, more like the other way round). Part of me thinks that Mullins got cold feet about pitting his unbeaten star in the lion’s den because Sprinter is that old lion with still a lot of bite and power.

Sprinter is probably the best chaser I have seen up to now when he was an aeroplane. If you think Sprinter could beat Douvan at the moment then you are delusional. Sprinter dosent finish his races properly any more and if Un De Sceux jumped the fence he blundered better it would have been a very close race. Douvan would 1000% beat Sprinter right now! If they both come back next year I guarantee you Douvan beats him.

Sprinter Sacre is hardly the horse of old but still much too good for them, what a fantastic season he has had. I was one of many who thought he’d never get back to this sort of level but he has proven the doubters well wrong.

Un De Sceaux did quite well to finish second given the errors he made but while has looked a weapon at times on soft ground he looks very vulnerable on a quicker surface. Not many horses handle soft like he does. His jumping is not as much of an issue on a softer surface but against top two milers jumping at pace his jumping comes under pressure. I’d love to see him aimed at the Tingle Creek where he’d be more likely to get his ground, as the going will often be against him at the spring festivals. A campaign taking in the Tingle Creek, Leopardstown, Tied Cottage and another crack at the Queen Mother would give him the best chance at redemption imo.
