Plenty of talk was forthcoming about Wesley Ward having a filly running in the Brocklesby. In the end she was a non runner, and the other one who ran a Kempton was awful. Those fillies will probably appear in the UK soon but in the meantime, I noticed one who ran at Keeneland and by golly she is fast.
Sent off 1/5 fav it was hardly shocking that Lady Aurelia won, but in the 4 and a half furlong race she trapped like Ballyregan Bob and hosed home in a track record time.
A remarkably low actioned filly, you could imagine her leading them a merry dance early doors if venturing over to Royal Ascot. She is favourite for the Queen Mary and surely has attributes that the local trained fillies simply won’t have at this stage.
By Scat Daddy, she would be fascinating to watch if she came to these shores, although the purists won’t be impressed by these “Ben Johnson” horses.
Video well worth a look I would say:-

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 24, 2016 at 16:07 #1243538The Brocklesby non runner, Create A Dream, is booked for Ascot on Wednesday, taking on previous winners.
Ward has several other 2-y-olds entered Stateside this week and one to watch out for is a colt called Toast A Kitten (strange name!), who has some speedy workouts similar to those posted by Lady Aurelia. He’s in at Laurel Park on Wednesday.
April 24, 2016 at 18:31 #1243545That was impressive, never raised a sweat
April 25, 2016 at 19:42 #1243619Any other TRFers going to Ascot on Wednesday?
I’ll post a few snaps of Create A Dream if she stands her ground for the opening race.
April 28, 2016 at 10:46 #1243789Remarkably that course record was broken again yesterday by a colt called Drafted, who beat a 5/1 on shot trained by Ward and knocked another 4/10ths off the time set by Lady Aurelia.
April 28, 2016 at 18:26 #1243844Toast A Kitten well beaten 4th of 5 sent off even money fav, never in the race with a chance. That’s three short priced favourites in 2-y-old maidens in the last two days that have performed woefully – it doesn’t look as if all is well with the stable, at least the horses still back home.
May 3, 2016 at 14:06 #1244437Lady Aurelia is one of three Wesley Ward runners declared in a field of nine for the Kentucky 2-y-old Stakes at Churchill Downs on Thursday – a $100,000 contest over five furlongs on the dirt.
May 6, 2016 at 00:56 #1244610Lady Aurelia was a non runner but Wesley Ward lifted the pot with Silvertoni, a Tapit filly who was said to be headed to Royal Ascot.
I can’t get odds for Silvertoni for the Queen Mary but wouldn’t mind a wager that she’ll be pretty short once the bookies finally get round to compiling odds.
The video of the race tonight reveals that it wasn’t a blast and go job like Lady Aurelia, in fact I thought Silvertoni was there to be claimed but she kept on better than the others in the end.
One thing I would say about Silvertoni is that she has an ungainly action. It’s something like a cross between the Riverdance and a horse trying to stamp a snake to death. I am not sure how efficient that style of running would be on turf, particularly on firm. She seems to hit the ground pretty hard the way she runs:-

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 6, 2016 at 15:01 #1244820Silvertoni has parachuted in from nowhere to 5/1 JF for the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.
As I said, I won’t back her on turf because of the way she moves.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 9, 2016 at 14:39 #1250512Lady Aurelia is the only Wesley Ward entry for the Queen Mary. She has been working on turf at Arlington for the last three weeks, with reported workouts of 3F in 34.0 secs (May 20) and 4F in 48.0 secs (May 30), both with the comment ‘breezing’.
June 9, 2016 at 15:58 #1250520Lady Aurelia is a best price of 13/8 for the Queen Mary.
She is as low as 6/5.
Of course the early birds got 5/1

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 15, 2016 at 15:28 #1251616Awesome show from Lady Aurelia. Was just waiting for her to come back to the field after what seemed a blistering early pace but when Detorri kicked she quickened impressively. What a performance.
June 15, 2016 at 15:55 #1251621Well done Mr Caution…that was astonishing
June 15, 2016 at 16:10 #1251624Had no financial interest in this whatsosever and haven’t seen it but was this just an astonishing performance or another Wesley ward horse choc full of drugs?
June 15, 2016 at 22:01 #1251696Have to say she must be the fastest 2 year old i’ve ever seen. Amazing performance
June 15, 2016 at 22:37 #1251703Well done Mr Caution…that was astonishing
Thanks Joe, it’s nice to have one like this come off for a change. Plenty fall by the wayside for one reason or another.
I felt her pace would be hard for the “non-druggies” to live with and that it would be hard to peg her back. She actually kept on better than I had anticipated, especially given the ground.
Timeform awarded her a sectional rating of 130, which, in their own words, is “comfortably the highest for a 2yo since these Debriefs came into being”
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 15, 2016 at 23:10 #1251713Well done Steve hope you had a good bet on her, 2/1 was a fantastic price and what acceleration, really impressive. Looks like we are going to have many more coming over next year and must say its exciting to see how they cope on the straight track and without the Lasix, nasal strips etc.
Wonder if she’ll stay on for the July Cup at Newmarket, would love to see her in the flesh.
You’ve been pretty nigh spot on with your research on the French Connection and the USA scene.
Backed Usherette today as I wasn’t going to let her go under the radar after dismissing her in favour of Arabian Queen in the Dhalia at Newmarket LTO. When Mr. Fabre has says she’s the best he’s trained then we should all sit up and pay attention.Really enjoying all the racing at RA win or lose especially with every single race on TV, wonder if ITV will do the same when they take charge.
anyway WELL DONE STEVE and the flying Lady Aurelia
