I’m hoping Godolphin run
Sadeeks song
too,I took a shine to him at Nottingham last year!
Nath I’m going down to photograph
Tax Free
so I can get you whatever you want of
Dandino
,PM me your address and what sort of shot you want.
Who was that Eclipse?.. Gingertipster!
Ginge would have backed every rower in the Cambridge boat with a saver on the Cox!
I’ve said it for a while now but if ever there was a horse who looks tailor made for a Grand National its
Weird al
,I know he’s probably the lightest raced horse ever to run in the race,(11 runs to date)and its certainly a year earlier than I expected but fair play to Donald Mcain for committing him now.I’ve had a daft tenner on at 240’s on the machine, could easily have been 320’s but I left it!
Gives me another interest in the race along withCalgary Bay
50/1,
Sunnyhill Boy
40/1 and of course
Junior
at 20/1,looks like I’ve lost on
Burton Port
but I’m happy with my 4 for the race,Cant wait!
Got the feeling THE FUGUE will go for the pretty polly race in Ireland
Any thoughts on this FLEMENSTAR i think with cut in the ground he is the best novice chaser around.A top horse he is but needs it heavy i think he does.
Nah darren I reckon she will go for the Musidora then Epsom mate! I have No thoughts on this ‘Flemenstar’ at the moment as apart from Punchestown i cant see a target for what looks to me like a horse who like you say needs to get his toe in big time!
darren,I just cant see
The Fugue
as a 1000gns type at all,Oaks defineately!
Elusive Kate
on the other hand ticks the 1000gns boxes but she isn’t on my shortlist.Johnny G never seems to rush his horses and thats why I never back one of his for the Guineas.Nothing else from his yard appeals to me for either races neither.I like
Wading
a lot,I hope she erases my luck with
Memory
from last year!

Ginge/Hurdy, you are both correct in your analysis of the 86 Derby,it was slowly run,’Sharastani’ was beautifully ridden, the course did have an effect on ‘Dancing Brave’ but no more than it did any other horse in the race.Greville rode a shocker, its common knowledge at Freemason lodge too that he cocked it up big time, coincidentally he rode out for them every week so he knew the Aga Khans colt well, his Irish Derby demolition confirmed him as a classy colt but his 2 subsequent defeats at the hands of ‘The Brave’ only proved that he was a lucky winner of The Derby. As you quite rightly point out Ginge,’Dancing Brave’ clocked a final furlong time equivalent to a 5 furlong sprinter which only cements the fact that the horse had plenty in reserve had he been placed appropriately to use his blistering speed. To this day its the only race that makes me feel sick watching it,I wonder why?

I got it down to one!
Magnanimity
! 38’s on the machine tells its own story though!

I’m on
Nick Watney
at 50/1 Joni, this guys got ‘Augusta’ written all over him! Anyone taking 3/1 about my old pal
Lee Westwood
wants their head looking at……He’s a Lay bet at that price,he could lead until the last 5 holes then the head will go,mark my words!
But it does beg the question that if one can be dominant over a
range
of distances that he/she deserves special status. KF is probably right in that it probably does. Sea The Stars, Nashwan and Chief Singer are probably the three who stand out in my time racing, a trio who were champions over a range of distances. You could add Oh So Sharp to that list too. And of course, further back, Nijinsky and (just about) the Brigadier too. I’m sure I’ll have missed some.
Chief Singer
was really a Sprinter who had the rare talent to do the same over a mile,if you rate him so highly you have to say
El Gran Senor
was a better horse because as Ray was still cantering on the Chief,Pat was positively swinging on the 84 Guineas Winner. His Derby defeat left a sour taste in the mouth too! ‘Frankel’ may well win the Eclipse, connections think we have to try him over 11/2m in the King George just to see if we have any real chance of achieving genuine legendary status in the Arc but he fails to stay and gets beaten 3 lengths by ‘Nathaniel’.His bubbles burst big time and the publics perception of this ‘Wonder horse’ is left in tatters and thats how it will look…..He failed to cut the mustard at the table of racings elite! Back to a mile and he romps home….Brilliant Miler but No Champion like
Sea The stars
and
Nashwan
.
People blamed Greville but the fact is that Dancing Brave lost the Derby where most come from behind horses do; in the first couple of furlongs.
For someone who talks a helluva lot of sense normally Eclipse…………You couldn’t be further from the truth with that belief!
GREVILLE F****D UP BIG TIME
,It is well recognised down in Pulborough that
Dancing Brave
should have won the 86 Derby,Greville knew he was on a racing certainty, the day before the race he is quoted as saying the horse was ‘Bombproof’ and that he could ride him however he wanted as he would win,he was 100% certain he’d get the trip standing on his head, everything would have gone to plan except Greville wanted to show off! Oh he did that alright! The worst ride I ever saw……..Until Mike Smith on
Zenyatta
came along!

Like I say he will wind us up all year and as you can see I will gladly bite!
Joni,Why do you think
Frankel
has been kept in training as a 4yo when he could go to the Juddmonte breeding sheds and Sire more Top Class Milers like himself?…………Because connections know thats all he will ever be remembered for! Sir Henry knows he has a freak on his hands and this horse more than any other keeps him on his toes,Henry wants this fellow to prove himself over further just so he does get to be a legend and its having the stamina and speed that seperate the truly greats from erm……….Frankel.You know as well as I do that he wouldn’t get 11/2m if he started now.I’ll stick my head on the block and say he will fail over 11/4m too! The horse is too much of a livewire! Hey! I do hope he has trained on,you know I’ll take it as a moral victory if he hasn’t………Just as you’d calmed down too eh!

Hurdy, only you would compare the legendary
Brigadier Gerard
to Frankel. One of which did win plenty Group 1’s over a Mile, the other did that and win over 1/4m and guess what a 11/2m too! Like I keep saying when Frankel wins an Eclipse and a King George then we’ll compare the 2!

Sorry for rambling on, but as for other races, looking forward to Sanctuaire, and Get Me Out Of Here. I’m loathed to desert Rock On Ruby, but couldn’t resist a few quid at the big prices for GMOOH. The most underrated horse in training.
Anytime VTC,its good to read others opinions, particularly about a race who’s muddied waters can only now start to clear as the race fast approaches! Best race of the year and one you always just want to find the winner of,I love having a horse in with a chance with 6 to jump,if
Juniors
still standing and continues to the last fence he will win,I’ll be playing in running too!
I’m with you darren,I think
Simonsig
is an Arkle horse,Fingal Bay is an RSA horse so the pair should be kept apart, this
Abtaal
is 20/1 for the 2000gns but i’ll be surprised if he turns up,a bit like
Naaqoos
the other Sheikh Hamden 2yo hotpot from France who failed to deliver.
Of course Frankel can be considered the best in the World Andyod, if he puts up performance/s better than any other racehorse in the World.
Over a mile Ginge, lets not confuse the fact that ‘Frankel’ wouldn’t beat a 100 rated handicapper who gets a 11/2m over that very trip………The trip of true legends. He’s the worlds best miler, thats it!

I see the gambles in full flow now on this
Most Improved
for the 2000 gns,I looked and looked and looked at his 3 races as a 2yo and yes his form is virtually identical to
Delegator
at the same point of their respective careers and Brian Meehan was adamant that he was a Guineas winner all through the spring of 2009,he too was the subject of bullish reports and a constant flow of money saw his odds come in from 16/1 down to 3/1fav,it did help that he won the Craven like a Class horse so we’ll see if ‘Most Improved’ does the same, personally I cant see the comparisons and even if ‘Camelot’ and ‘Top Offer’ fail to make it he wont beat
Power
,he was the horse to take from the Dewhurst imo.
VTC,I hope you have snaffled all the 20/1 on
Junior
mate for the Grand National,Loyalty and that eh?…..Or do you have the same reservation as me about his ability to Jump Aintree fences,it will be heart in mouth every time he takes off,all 4ft as thats as high as he gets!
If he gets round the first circuit he’s a player,if he’s 5 length of the leader at the last he wins,What a race it will be!
I just hope its not‘Calg’
who’s 5 lengths clear.
