This is one running at Great leighs on Sunday @ 3.20p.m. It’s called Liberty Beau, trained by David Elsworth with Dane O’Neill aboard. On Page 43 you’ll see that I was all set for it to run a big second race but it was withdrawn. It has since run (Kempton) though happily I was unaware of this because yet again it was placed fifth. However, it ran out of gas upped to 10 furlongs and is now back to one mile which I think is a winnable distance. I’ll be very disappointed if it’s not in the money though I’m not certain how this third different track will suit. Seasons good wishes to everyone.
Fist. I’m genuinely sorry if I have upset you. I truly thought you understood where I was coming from and as you had previously indicated you were not offended by my tongue in cheek enquiry about your name and then you chose to elaborate I never thought for one moment you would take my latest post the wrong way, believing it to be gentle banter between us. In fact I thought initially you had taken things in the spirit they were intended. As for having two ID’s I have absolutely no idea what you mean by this. If you peruse my other posts I think you will appreciate that I avoid slanging matches and try to focus on the issue at hand whilst being supportive of other posters regardless of their side in a particular discussion. In fact, only the other night you told me not to be kind towards a first time poster (since deleted) as, unknown to me, he was a ‘spammer’. I will, of course, take your advice, and not ask further personal questions; in fact, in the circumstances, I think it best to avoid further misunderstandings between us so I will refrain from commenting on any of your future postings. If Cormack is upset that I strayed from the path then I apologise and send both of you my very best seasonal greetings.
Thanks for your very informative post, Fist. Seems as though you’ve led an interesting life. With your M.A. background it might persuade some of your opponents on this forum that not only is Fist’s pen mightier than his sword but, if goaded, his words carry a powerful punch.
However, there’s bound to be an however, I’m not so sure that you really live in Ban……..I suspect you have a little croft somewhere in the Shetlands and you just post on here in between sheep shearing and tending your vegetable patch. How’s that for perception, Fist?
Cheers.True to his words earlier, Fist is not rising to the bait and pursuing this thread. He’s exhausted all his arguments and himself.
Earlier in this thread, Fist wrote (twice) :-Who cares what you think?
If only I’d read this earlier, because at around 7.00 this evening the rank outsider on the Ladbrokes virtual racing at Lucksin Downs won @ 33/1 and was called:-Whatever Who Cares. Premonition perhaps Fist?I’m not so sure Fist backed the winner because if he had then I tend to think he’d be more magnaminous about his success and be sharing some empathy with those who lost. On the other hand, perhaps I credit him with too much compassion for his fellow compatriots? Who knows Fist best, but Fist himself? The name, Fist of Fury, are you a martial arts expert, Fist, or just a con-artist? No offence intended.
Restless Genius would seem to be a decent enough price considering he’s beaten Trafalgar Square recently and Trafalgar has since won at Lingfield. My thoughts are he needs to return to six/seven furlongs though, his last win being at six. Whatever happens you shouldn’t lose much, not that I know anything, other than it costs a couple of grand or more to get a decent hack, I think.
Confession, Gray. I went to Babblefish for the translation. I can’t speak the lingo but you are obviously a man of letters and an officer and a gentleman. Good wishes. Sorry about the leg. Perhaps, if there are any future transgressions, ATR might subject their presenters to hourly sunbed torture.
For the hard of hearing, this is the translation, I think, of Gray’s first line above:-
Certainly, Mr. Ken, but the Mehrkeit did not manage this at all! CoolHi Gray,
Why did the paper fold when it seemed to be so popular? Did you write in German?Matt looking very dapper on ATR with pin-stripe suit and waistcoat. Maybe he’s looking forward to co-hosting with my post above.
David Johnson said it was nice to hear him back on air. I notice he’s being far more conservative in his description of rides, tending to put the onus on the horse rather than the jockey. To some extent , I can understand part of Fist’s reasoning. How often do we see two horses coming to the last and appearing to jump in harmony but one takes a tumble. Why is that, I ask? They approach at the same speed, rise together and appear to be over together but then one goes. Is it because they’re different lengths and therefore one horse is distracted because it sees its body has not landed alongside it’s compatriot and in trying to adjust, for a split second, takes its mind off a sound landing? As an aside – there’s a local independent bookie here that offers full stake refund for first and last fence fallers, plus full refund for any hurdler falling, plus full refund for short head or less defeat.
Steward: "Can you explain this horse’s remarkable performance?"
Trainer: " I certainly can Sir (doffing his hat). It’s simple Sir. When the horse discovered what had been said about him on television, he took very grave exception to the matter. So much so, in fact, that he had stern words with the jockey and told him, in no uncertain terms, that if he didn’t pull his finger out he was going to go public about their relationship. Besides which, he didn’t want to be criticised again by a presenter sporting a better shade of tan. So there you have it, Sir, it ran out of it’s skin because he’s got great ambitions to co-host with Matt."
Steward: "That’s a very plausible explanation, trainer. There’s a good fellow, pass me my G + T on your way out."
Just been watching the man himself. His adrenalin is in full flow and it’s as if he’s never been away. Happy days are here again….the sun is shining on ATR…
Does the handicapper take note of the sex of the horse or in a handicap is it a case of just being based on performance? I remember reading some statistic that the male horses are statistically more likely to win consecutive races than female.
Getzippy asked:-
What beast do you think is nailed on to win over Xmas?Rudolph, by a nose, me thinks.
Despite Fist appearing to be in a minority on this matter, I must record my admiration of him in proving to be so tenacious in the wake of so much opposition. I am sure we all appreciate posters like Fist who are prepared to put their reputations on the line and have a good old debate. Well done Fist.
