cough ….umm….. rollkur……cough……
I don’t get this horse, to me he looks, overbent, his hind legs aren’t engaged there is no impulsion in his hind legs I prefer Salinero every time (even if Anky is another Rollkur specialist)

If I whacked you across the arse
with an air cushioned whip you would probably feel nothing, now take an average horse who weighs around 500kg, a heck of a lot more than a person and do you really think its going to hurt. Now if i were passing a field where a horse was being flogged by 1 person with a whip for less than 30 seconds (how long does the last 2 furlongs of a race last) nah, I don’t think the RSPCA would be bothered. There is a huge difference between a "whip" and an air cushioned jockey whip, please don’t get them confused
I hate fergal lynch with a passion
even more so after reading thisI know how much work and effort that went into getting Bonjour Bond onto a racetrack (he was a complete fruitloop – but a gorgeous one at that!), never mind getting placed and to see him blatenty "bragging" for a better word about delibertaly loosing the race shows what contempt he has, not only for the punters, but the owners, trainer and staff who work with the horses. I hope if he ever comes back he will be booed off the racecourses and have rotten things chucked at him as its all he deserves.
My brother lives fairly close to the racecourse, on the opposite side to the river. He told me their are plans to build some sort of flood defence on their side of the river to protect a main road which goes to the city centre and houses close to that road. To me this will make any flooding problems at the racecourse a lot worse as where previously water has run off on both sides, it will have no where else to go but racecourse.
He said walking past the course when it flooded 3 weeks ago it still stinks of sewarage etc …nicceeeee
How about America? David or Nick Bentley, im sure it was David, went there and became chamption jockey, he wasn’t even 3rd jockey at Micky Hammonds when he left. Didnt Xavier Aizpuru (sp?) move over there too when he lost his claim? Best of luck that you can keep riding somewhere.
Whoever suggested p2p is totally wrong as he’s been a conditional so wont be able to be amatuer again so soon
I love Sedgefield, the racing not the people who run it sadly, with their endless gimmicks. Yes the horses are low quality, but sadly not everyone has a horse worthy of running at Cheltenham festival so there has to be somewhere to send them. and I think that some of the comments are very insulting to the people who enjoy watching the racing from there and the trainers, owners and jockeys who run horses, these people need to make a living. It (along with Catterick) are my local tracks and I cant afford to travel much further, and pay for entry, so im grateful for what I get.
A lot of the horses who run there are local favourites and the crowd like to see them turn out week after week, Fatehalkhair & Mighty Fine are 2 who spring to mind. Sadly I dont visit as often as i’d like as the entry fee to watch poor quality is a turn off, one has to be grateful to the Porters or Mr Wade for the occaisional freebie!!! I am also more of a fair weather racegoer these days so I look forward to the summer evenings, and there is no wonder why the management prefer these meetings to the winter days, the place is packed to the rafters! with a totally different cliantel than you’d expect from normal racemeetings.
The course has been doing an awful lot to discover why ther has been a high fatality rate in the last few years, I think its just a sad fact of jump racing and the risks that happen, Totally Scottish for example was a tragic accident when a horse landed on top of him, how can the course be blamed for that? They are willing to put in changes to rectify whatever is going wrong.
Maybe if the place was sold for building on Mr Wade might invest some of his millions and get rid of those Northern Racing monkeys!! Theres no chance of that happpening however with the course as popular as it is.
One thing I would add is i wish they’d get rid of their shitty awful free racecards. I’d rather pay a little less to get in and pay 2 quid for a decent one!!!
i do apologise!!!
Katy – I think the Mordon course is John Wade’s land as well, isn’t it? It’s not the first time he’s offered free entry either, if memory serves.
Proof positive that if you want enough cash to spend on keeping two dozen horses in training, run a point-to-point with free entry, then equine rubber is where it’s at!
gc
Yes, they are his gallops. Mordon is the nearby village, Howe Hills is name of the yard.
I dunno about Equine rubber, what all that about?!?!?! Think he made is millions by the dirty great quarry he has and all the trucks and skips!!
Of course the whole amateur feel of pointing is part of its appeal.
From the varying riding abilities of the jockeys to the tented facilities for the participants.
Would imagine it wouldn’t be quite so much fun in bad weather though.I actually prefer the beauty of pointing is the week before the course is sctually a field, at Howe Hills its all very "proffessional" with buildings, a proper bar and indoor school to shelter in, I don’t think its got much atmosphere though, not like when everyones outside. Although it was very nice for the afformentioned VW meeting!!!!! I suppose thats just me whose been brought up on it, and hanging about in tents at agricultural shows.
I wish I had made Easingwold, I think i might have been having palpitations as she was going so well but managed to lose her jockey at the 2nd last in 2nd place….gutted!!! so much for the opinion of the form experts at Weatherbys
:P:P:P Hello Noddy is trained by a relative of Denys Smith (possibly his daughter? or grandaughter?)The plan was to run again on Saturday at Wadeys, she got a bit of a cut so can’t be sure if she was entered. A little birdy (thanks!) informaed me yesterday Wadey was offering a freebie so hopefully it’ll get a big tunrout, I think its his own hunt so he can afford to do it.
Charlie Johnston also has another ride, called Tacolino
Pharnoon was killed, was he? Oh horrors. I’ve not got the loose-leaf to hand, but I think the Weekender had him down as nothing more than pulled up at the 2nd. Ted and Joy will have been in absolute bits over that.

gc
When we saw him run at Howe Hills back on the day we got soaked through to the skin and froze to death …. brings back such good memories
….. he pulled up at the first or 2nd fence, very strange" The Castle and grounds have been sold and the new owner is trying to do it up as a big posh events centre and caravan site, mind you he’ll have a struggle judging by the pikeys that normally stay there!!!!"

FFS.You’ve obviously never been…. a group of lads in their rockies, and burberry with their trousers tucked into thier socks sure got some right funny looks off the horsey set thats for sure.
I’m not certain Jeremy, as its just what I heard yesterday. The Castle and grounds have been sold and the new owner is trying to do it up as a big posh events centre and caravan site, mind you he’ll have a struggle judging by the pikeys that normally stay there!!!! They’ve already lost the horse trials (great shame as most of the top riders appeared and its a lovely course) and the biker rally. It will be a massive shame as its a great viewing course, u can see the whole track from the hillside bar behind the trees on the back straight, our horse went into them 3rd place and didnt come out the other side grrrr!!!
I’ve looked at fixtures and it is next sat, then another at Wadeys the week after which will probably be on the cards and I think that’ll be us for the year. GD – Easingwold was on last weekend and its next weekend aswell, its the Bilsdale this time.
I’ll look forward to the hog roast, with any luck it’ll be the same one thats at the end of season party
It was a lovely day Jeremy, helped by the weather and probably because Newcastle was abandoned. You’v probably missed your chance to visit as, if rumours are true, that was the last meeting
which is a great shame espec as its within walking distance for me. I think we’re off to Easingwold next week? i’v not looked at fixtures to see whats on so forgive me if im wrong. Then the big Yorkshire end of season fundraiser, BBQ and dancing the night away, woo i
pointing!!!I’v been told to add u to my facebook theres loads of pics on there of the day, so i’ll go and look for u now!!!
Kt
No complaints from the point to point contingent, plenty of meetings which is where im heading today on a lovely sunny day, witton beer tent here we come!!!!!
Someone with a relevent Annual will have to look it up but there was some funny comments about my old horse Cranford when she ran appro 99-00, she was utterley useless blless her and looked more like a camel than a racehorse but she looked after me

Thats true Racinggirl, when I was doing my dissertation for college  on injuies suffered at the racecourses and along those lines I had great difficulty in finding any information as everyone automatically thought i was an animal rights nutter!!!  It got to the point where I had to get references from my college tutors to confirm who i was, and my mums friend who worked for the JC to say I was a racing fan and the information wouldn’t be passed onto any other organisation.  Even then I didnt get any figures so with 2 months before the deadline I had to change the whole bloody thing! nightmare!
Good luck guys, will keep fingers crossed, at least you got a top jock on :)
