I am really looking forward to the Derby as with any other year. People may say it doesn’t look a great race, but its the expectations you may have for your choice which makes it such an intriguing race.
I really like Recital, I thought his Derrinstown was very impressive, like a lot of Montjeus he showed a quirky side by hanging in the last couple of furlongs. I think there is still a mountain of improvement to come from him, and I he would be my pick at the prices.

Information? Surely you would want to educate the horse, he has only ran once.
JohnJ
So outstanding that because Trabolgan carried 11:12 to win the Hennessey and Denman did the same Fist thought that meant they were rated the same?
Both made interesting points from time to time, but the sheer volume of tat meant it was the right decision, in my humble opinion.
I for one were sick to the back teeth of reading how one or both of the two had "spotted" the likes of Canford Cliffs, Binocular and Zarkava first. Like my children arguing over whom was holding a toy first. "Look-at-me", egostistical bullshitting of the top order.
Exactly my thoughts on the matter.
Ruby,
You said that Oxx gets the same bloodlines as De Royer-Dupre, he doesn’t get the cream of them. De Royer-Dupre is the principal trainer for the Aga Khan, he gets the superior stock.
JohnJ
But he is given unbelievable ammo from the Aga Khan every year and it seems that he does nothing with it. Blaming big backward types etc etc etc. His counterparts in France are given the same bloodlines and they produce results year in year out with Dupre especially.
What unbelievable ammo would De Royer-Dupre faired better with?
Glad to see Jessica Harrington aiming Oscars Well at the 2m novice race at Punchestown. The way he tanked to the front in the Neptune and his performance in the Deloitte suggests he may be well able for the minimum trip.
JohnJ
Oh ye of little faith!!!

Me thinks that would include myself, super performance from a super champion. I was a doubter, a massive doubter, but he was a very worthy winner.
JohnJ
Stilvi,
I agree, he may not come off the bridle, there may not be a horse that will be able to get CC off the bit. I am currently looking through the race to see if there is one.
I don’t believe that the form of the International should be taken literally, I dont believe Cue Card is 5lb behind Menorah, not a hope, especially with Silviniaco Conti in such close proximity.
JohnJ
Thats my worry about CC Tuffers, he looks like a horse that if he is taken off the bridle he doesn’t do a whole lot.
JohnJ
Any reason why it is more likely?
Just checked BF, for small money Day of a Lifetime shorter on Supreme market than Neptune for what its worth!
Willie Mullins has said that he has slight worries about running Day of a Lifetime in the supreme due to inexperience, he may go for the Neptune.
JohnJ
Starluck apparently is a non runner, Ted Walsh said it at Woodland’s preview night, Paul Ryan from Paddy Power also said this at the Paddy Power preview night.

I am an Oscars Well fan, I also backed So Young after Leopardstown. And I take you point and I certainly have not forgotten First Lieutenant, potentially one of the races of the festival IMO.
In fairness the track didn’t suit HC, he hit the front too soon, and was being kept up to his work, I wouldn’t take the form too literally.
JohnJ
IC,
On a slightly different topic, if Oscars Well was trained by WPM, what price for the Neptune?
JohnJ
IC,
Brian Fleming had Bishopsfurze as an 8/11 tissue in the RP, he obviously was out of the country on January 23rd 2011.
