Seems to me that over the last few years that theres a hell of a lot of shchaudenfraud loving merchants on this forum.
Its usually broadcasters who get the biggest kicking.
Much prefer to read the top rated thread today (before I posted this anyway) than some of the negativity that surrounds starting one like this
So I think 1 or 2 months is sufficient. Maybe around June would be good, restarting in time for evening meetings for the holidaymakers.
June! Just in time for Wimbledon and The Derby then.
Aside from the most important thing, the welfare of the horse and jockey, Summer National Hunt just doesnt look right. It has no reasonable right to be a spectator sport in Summer Months. Mcoy said on the ML he’d welcome 2-3 months off after Sandown but cant say no to owners in case he’s jocked off come the real racing.
The Great North Run for us humans used to be run in June but 3 runners had died from heat exhaustion and many were taken ill. And this is Tyneside! Its now ran mid september and guess what, no more casualties but heh these are only horses and they shoot horses dont they?
Mr Royston Ffrench Very Good stylish jockey retained for a number of years by Mark Johnson. Though cant think of any other.
Like me and a lot of my inner city residents both white and black
theres not much of an opportunity to see a horse never mind ride one so an educated guess thats the reason.Had the misfortune to view. Horrible and right in front of the stands.
Was more concerned at the time with the 2nd last fence faller who looked tired and fell well tailed off last, took a horrendous fall. Horse didnt have the energy to put his undercarriage out and nose dived into the turf and lay there swishing the tail. Any news?
I dont know what that rider was thinking not to pull it up.
The fatality we know about seemed to jar itsself on landing over the last and didnt do his chances any good at all.
I’ll not be watching any more summer jumping, not for me as I
started in a earlier thread.I’m at a loss why this thread has remained at the top of the Racing discussions board for almost a week but I guess I’m making it remain here a bit longer with my two penneth but here goes.
People cannot be what they are not and Ryan Moore is a private shy man who likes only to get on with the job in hand and is never more happier whilst he’s riding horses The media side of it he clearly doesnt enjoy and he is not obligated to do so. Thats life thats human nature.
I ask some of the more outspoken critics of Mr Moore’s personality to forget who you are and tonight while travelling home wind your windows right down, stick your heads out of the window and sing at the top of your voice Everythings Comin Up Roses For me and My Gal while parked at traffic lights.
You wouldnt do it would you so why should Ryan?
Apologies posted in the wrong section, defaulted to this area
when I logged in although it might have been an intended slip jumping at speed off firm ground going to cause casualtiesFrom the Racing Post due to the peculiar irish trait of allowing reserves to run up to an hour before the off
"Blue Sq and Corals – the race has been priced as if all are running, Rule 4 where applicable will be enforced on non runners
including reserves
"
I didnt pay much attention to the article but on the Pricewise page on the day of the race he stuck up bookmakers changes to terms and prices had Beutiful Sound got in
The fact is that the National has more in common with the ‘dance marathons’ of the 1920s (coincidentally portrayed in a film called They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?) than with racing. I used to enjoy the National more when I knew less about racing. The more I took an interest in the Turf the more the National seemed a sort of fairground show for ‘civilians’ to gawp at.
It is a very bad advert for the sport, especially in an increasingly PC and state-meddling culture.Yeah I agrree with that, Aintree got no class
Someone should do a survey of when most falls have occured
and i’d suspect it would be on the first circuit when horses and jockeys are not getting a good look at the fences and having trouble on the landing sideThen leave it up to the authorities how to stop them being so serious. Reduce the field to 30 perhaps which is still plenty big enough as a spectacle and would enter horses only that have proven jumping ability
Denman ran twice this year before Aintree. Had he not ran again this season people would be moaning.
Had he not run again on a track in his lifetime I wouldnt have moaned
I like the TD family and Paddy but I thought it was little insensitive during a interview with C4 racing in the Fesstival week for Nigel to say in answer to a question about the boys ability to ride big winners that its much better having one of the boys up anyway becasuse it keeps all the prize money in the family.
Writing was on the wall then.
An insurance policy, cant see anything wrong with it if its there to be taken.
It was shown on the big screen to the grandstands and the line coming from right to left first hit Final Approache’s nostrils. Nothing in it but it was the minimal distance to GMOOH depriment
probably drifting as the mighty Menorah is a shoe in for the Champion
Approximatley one sixth of all national hunt racing are won by a runner with a bigger price than 10/1 which makes them an outsider.
It would be pretty dull if that wasnt the case. The clues are there if you can be bothered to study the form and go with a little intuition on what you’ve read. Always ignore opinions ie the press. A lot of the time they make the book like it is.
I started a spreadsheet in October last year just from result reading in the mornings paper trying to spot if there was a trend where outsiders were more likely to win at certain racecourses more than others. There wasnt.
Apart from Cheltenham and Ascot where the grade of racing is better quality longer price winners were going in everywhere for one sixth which is an easy fraction to see at a meetingI’ve not checked so much into 2011 but its still about one sixth and coming in at pretty massive prices 66’s and 40’s especially the juvenile divisons ie novice hurdeles and beginner chases
Well i guess i must have been doing it all wrong, backed plenty of winners at goodwood last week particularly the first one of the week Indian Days but its all about interpretation of your own rules i guess.
Indian Days was one of them that couldnt get beat following. On the first Day this law ruled as I said in my first post, second day when I followed it it didnt. Class 3 previous winners stepping up were winning.
I’m on your side
