Too far out I know but was the 2nd last when coming to grief. Was tanking as was Abracadabras. Given how he stayed in his previous eace and how Shiskin had to dig deep, who’s to say Captain Guiness would not have? If’s and buts I know, but I would have made plenty just for the place. Only my opinion but think he could have won. We will never know.

I’m talking through my pocket as well. Heavily backed Captain Guiness and he was the trigger to all my multis as well. Even getting placed I would been quids in.
It’s not just Mark Walsh who didn’t heed the danger, Rachel Blackmore was almost brought down the hurdle prior to that yet remained in the same position at the next when brought down why?? I strongly believe he was going well and would have won that race today. Gutted.

Nap – Captain Guinness – a serious performance against Andy Dusfresne and with the likely pace helping him to settle, will show what an engine he has.

Lay – Honeysuckle – can’t see her getting anywhere near Benie Des Dieux – just my opinion.

E/W – Al Dancer in the Arkle – if they put the headgear back on which I think they will, should sharpen him up no end and wouldn’t surprise me if he wins.

Thanks, thought it might be 24 for some reason, but yes, minor miracle it is then!
Can’t see that many dropping out…

Does anyone know what the maximum field is for this and what sort of chance has Pistol Whipped have of actually getting into the race being No 38?

The great thing about Honeysuckle lining up in this is you may get a better price on Benie de Dieux. Imo the absolute banker of the week if she goes here. Wins on the snaff.

I’d be very sweet on Pistol Whipped for this if I thought Mcgrath was riding and not De Boinville. Maybe it’s just me but can’t see how he’s No 1 at Seven Barrows, he really can’t judge a horse into a fence or a hurdle. Anyway, other than that, this horse has an engine, cane from well off the pace to win under McGrath. Fell st first under NDB then ran with the choke out against much higher rated rivals, but still ran with great credit. Should have a decent weight here 1st time in a handicap, strong run race, could be a great bet if lining up.

I have liked Captain Guinness for this based on his run against Andy Dusfresne. The race was not run to suit, a stop start sort of race and he ended in front way too soon. Still plugged on very gamely from a horse regarded very highly at the Elliott yard. Not quite Envoi Allen level but high enough to regard Captain Guinness’ run very good in a race not run to suit. A strongly run race, goes on soft ground, think he’s a good each way play as he’s with a very able jockey and trainer in good form.

On a more sentiment kind of note, what price you think he goes off on the day? 50,000 guinness slurping racegoers on course (ok not all of them),but can see him being the bookies biggest loser on the race on the day. I’d say a few more pints of the black stuff would be consumed if he was to win!!

Now Kalashnikov has been pulled I will be throwing a few quid each way on my old mate Splash of Ginge @ 50/1 5 places.
A couple of pounds lower than when winning this a couple of years ago, and his reappearance wasn’t without promise….almost identical prep to when he won this race two years back….could be his last hurrah!

Hi VTC, with no ban lift imminent, can I replace Kemboy with Kalashnikov?
    Cheers

If nothing surfaces about Kemboy before Saturday, I will leave as is, but if there is anything along the lines of like they can’t run for 3 months then will swap before then if that’s ok.
    Cheers

What are the chances of Kalashnikov lining up here if he is taking in the Old Roan chase this weekend?
