Somewhat surprisingly there are two horses called Vercingetorix as well. You would have thought that was an unusual enough name to guarantee singularity but there’s a SAF and an IRE version.
The SAF one recently beat one time Derby hopeful True Story at Meydan. The other fellow is plying his trade over the sticks for Gordon Elliott.
Apparently the original Vercingetorix was a Gallic chieftain and he lost to Julius Caesar, but I don’t know if it was at Cheltenham.
Finally, there was a robot of the same name on Robot Wars but I don’t think it was much cop.
That one did get me the other week when running in Ireland.
I thought my mind was playing tricks on me as I remember Vercingetorix running in Meydan last year.
I had to look at the horse’s profile and there it was, it wasn’t the same horse (surprisingly
)Nice set their Corm.
Such sad news regarding Our Conor

The New One would have won, in my opinion, having not been hampered by the fall of Our Conor. I hope NTD takes The New One back to the Champion Hurdle next year because he will be hard to beat.
I believe that is the first time I have seen the winner race. Very, very impressive. What a gorgeous looking horse too.
Absolutely gutted. Had a great future ahead.
RIP Our Conor.
I think it will be either The New One or Our Conor who will win this year. I do think The New One hasn’t been talked about as much as the other market principles, but I think he is one that NTD will be quietly confident about.
The New One to win, Our Conor second, Hurricane Fly third (based on the assumption that Annie Power doesn’t run
).Shame that Sir Des Champs won’t be lining up in this again. I still fancy Bobs Worth, really tough horse and just one which I cannot fail to like. Nothing flashy, but a really good horse, a nice sort and a very likable horse. Hope he manages to win a second Gold Cup come March.
I read yesterday (think it was Graham Cunningham who stated) that the race to the second last was 13 seconds slower than the race which Quickpick Vic won earlier on in the card. So it seems it was run at no pace at all.
I still fancy Our Conor, come March. I am a big fan of that horse. Not sure what to make of Jezki. The New One doesn’t seem to have been talked about too much either and he will definitely have a say in proceedings. Makes for a really exciting race at Cheltenham.
I would like to see her run in the Champion Hurdle, but I think she will take her chance in the World Hurdle… A race which she is more than capable of winning too.
I think it’s an encouraging run from Our Conor. Don’t think he has lost anything in defeat and he came there really strongly. Will be interesting to see how he fairs at Cheltenham. He powered up that hill last time.
Awful and upsetting news. Such a fantastic and brave horse. RIP St Nicholas Abbey.
You have to respect Hurricane Fly and all that he has done in his career, however, I personally would love to see Our Conor win today. He seems a very special horse and the way he powered away in the Triumph was something to behold.
Was great to see him win again yesterday.
He is all class and guts!
Hope he gets to Cheltenham and wins the big one again, come March.
Extremely sad news and my sympathies and condolences go to his family & friends.
Rest in peace Sir Henry Cecil.
Such a shame to read about this! RIP Fair Along.
Best wishes to JT.
Best wishes to Sir Peter!
