Excuse my ignorance, but on the subject of Gold Cup contenders is there any news regarding Star De Mohaison, War Of Attrition and Kicking King?

So what do people fear outside of sublimity and katchit? I wasn’t going to say anything in case I looked like a smart arse but I backed Sublimity at 8s and Katchit at 14s back after Cheltenham in March. Am I entitled to be feeling confident…. I just think there is a long time to go still, but would take my bet on Sublimity if i had to lose one of them.

It was a tough performance but based on last years Champion Hurdle form would sublimity still not be the horse to beat? Sublimity for me :)

Well firstly, you really should go straight to bed when you have had a heavy night out.

Maybe its to do with sentimentality? Maybe its sorrow at the loss of an animal that injected much need charisma and personality into the sport?

Or maybe people actually care about the horse? I suspect thats not something that affects you too much.

I don’t think I can really write anything useful at this point except to say its not really fair to try to apportion blame to anybody. What a beast he was, even if he did fail to fire as a 4yo (and that coming from one of his biggest fans).

I have the utmost respect for O’Brien for not trying to save the horse and causing George a lot of pain and suffering and it doesn’t surprise me that he stayed with the horse to the end. As regards to the race, I actually didn’t think it was a bad ride he was trying to give it to avoid the kickback but it was never meant to be from an early stage.

It may seem a trivial question, but does anyone know at what point GW broke down? Could the sloppy dirt of contributed or would it of happened regardless of the ground whehter it be fast turf or slow dirt?

    RIP George

Come on, none of you have mentioned the best 10f horse of the last 5 years ;)

The first bit of racing commentary I remember :)

"Its a superb performance by the superb SHAMARDAL"

Would of burnt them all off from the front with frankie on board ;)

What were all the deleted posts about! :?

Fallon would be the first choice for me if I had a horse :) He won the race. That will do for me :)

And with that goes my lumpy antepost bet on Manduro and probably my interest in racing until March :(

I hope Manduro is ok :(

    What an amusing thread! :)

Well nobody laid into me when i was a newbie except for one person but I’m ok with them now and they were kinda right anyway. Newbies prolly have lots of interesting things to say but last thing many of the established members want is someone telling us about their speed ratings after ewvery race and how that winner was so easy to find with their ratings. If newbies are talking rubbish I’d be inclined to stick the boot in myself, except i can’t really be bothered anymore.

And Grasshopper a newbie lol, don’t think thats quite right

I think it was DJ that said in another thread that O’Briens juveniles seem to be improving as they race this season. He looks to have a very nice set of juvenile fillies and colts again this year from what we have seen so far.
