With fallon on and horse in top form Dylan Thomas every day of the week, a race can only be so good!

The other jockeys better be ready to take evasive action when Fallon loses control of steering yet again.

Please stop restating this obsession with Fallon, it’s getting quite tedious.
October 17, 2007 at 10:43 #120008He will be carrying over weight though
Those ball and chains weigh a ton

Please stop the mecca like hero worshipping of Fallon every time he rides a winner its getting quiet tedious, he gave Dylan Thomas a poor and dangerous ride yet somehow it was of course vintage Fallon.

October 17, 2007 at 12:12 #120029A strange list for a 10f race as most of them are better at 12f.
At 10f, I’d agree that Falbrav would have beaten them.
Up it to 12f and … where’s Dalakhani?

October 17, 2007 at 12:36 #120037Call me an old cynic, but I think the questioner may just have a bias for Manduro. I could be wrong.

I think Brigadier Gerard and Dubai Millenium would both have taken care of that field over the distance.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
October 17, 2007 at 13:51 #120049a good question would be, which jockey from the last few seasons would you want on the chosen horse?
Certainly wouldnt be Fallon for me…for a variety of well explored reasons. No doubt that will get the usual response from those with a tatty Fallon poster on their bedroom walls…

Would be Ryan for me…

October 17, 2007 at 14:23 #120056Over ten furlongs Dancing Brave would’ve beaten any of them.
October 17, 2007 at 14:58 #120059Given some happy pills Rakti would have been in the mix-up. Falbrav is a glaring ommission as well..
The field would have been too small for DI – For me that was his undoing in the Arc.
Of those listed it would have to be Manduro…
Oratorio was a proper 10f horse not on that list as well.
October 17, 2007 at 15:52 #120071Come on, none of you have mentioned the best 10f horse of the last 5 years

The first bit of racing commentary I remember

"Its a superb performance by the superb SHAMARDAL"
Would of burnt them all off from the front with frankie on board
October 17, 2007 at 16:06 #120075I’ll go for Rakti with is usual pilot the mercurial Phillip robinson.
October 17, 2007 at 16:15 #120079seems like i missed quite a few horses off the list but the ones i listed were top performers of the last couple of seasons. so what would be the ultimate race including those everyone has mentioned? maximum field of 12!!

No chance!!
October 18, 2007 at 00:32 #120198Whether or not you think Dylan Thomas is better at 1 mile 2 furlongs or 1 mile 4 furlongs is rather like whether or not you prefer French or Italian wine. The point is, you have to base the example given on form not "wonder" horse status. Give every runner their own track, [excusing hard luck stories etc] and time how fast they run the distance in fast, good and soft ground and Dylan Thomas comes out on top 9/10 times. As for Manduro, you could argue that because he beat Dylan this year he’s better, but then the same argument would apply to Ed Dunlop’s filly who Dylan beat in Ireland in 06, hence, it’s a overall form perspective of them as horses thats required to find out who’s the most capable, and all I can say is i’m sure in my own mind whatever could beat Dylan on a regular basis should have been installed in a rocket to help it take off!
And i have to reiterate, if Dylan was genuinly a superstar over 1 mile 4 furlongs why did he not beat Sir Percy in the derby? Too firm? well how can that be?
Leave it Marbs!! DT was still improving way back in june where as Sir Percy was as good as he was ever going to be. Thats why for me, the derby is the worst pointer for real 3yo form. I clearly remember Aiden OB saying he’ll improve loads for the run so i murdered the 4-1 available in the irish derby
… Even the wonderous Clare Balding tipped it after our derby! that wot swung it for me
October 18, 2007 at 10:46 #120228High Chaperall would s**t all over them all…PURE CLASS
