Picture the setting…Ascot, Going: Good. A warm summers day. A group 1 1m2f race…this is the card:
1. Manduro
2. Ouija Board
3. Deep Impact
4. Invasor
5. George Washington
6. Dylan Thomas
7. Hurricane Run
8. Shirocco
9. Authorized
10. Rail Link
11. Hearts Cryimagine they are all on form, in their prime. I have chosen a few horses who have big races over the past couple of years, feel free to add some more to this super race!!
October 16, 2007 at 21:14 #119933Beef or Salmon would hack all over them.
October 16, 2007 at 21:36 #119935Notnowcato for me!
October 16, 2007 at 22:12 #119947What about Motivator? ? ?
October 16, 2007 at 22:30 #119952Depending on Deep Impact being fit and getting a good ride (one of Yutaka’s Japanese efforts rather than his European or American ones) I would expect him to win by three or four lengths from Manduro, with Ouija and Dylan a few lengths away in a photo for third
Are we talking about 12f by the way?
Wouldn’t make much difference if it was ten.
We did not see the real Deep Impact at Longchamp. You had to see him at his best to believe.
October 16, 2007 at 22:32 #119954Sorry. 10f I now see. Must stop replying to posts before I’ve read them properly.
Keep making this resolution. Keep forgetting.
October 16, 2007 at 22:45 #119957Seriousy, Manduro, as the 10f would be an issue for most of the rest. All boxes ticked for Manduro DT2nd and from the clouds, Broughtons Formula in third
October 16, 2007 at 22:52 #119960Falbrav.
October 16, 2007 at 23:02 #119964Welcome Andy a nice post. Reading through your list reminds me why I love this sport so much.
If you give me 3/1 over the 10f I’ll take Manduro off that lineup.
What about some other 10 furlong specialists
Dubai Millennium
Sakhee
Fantastic Light
Galileo
Kanlanisi
Giants CausewayOctober 16, 2007 at 23:15 #119966Falbrav was a beast. His muscles had muscles that were developing muscles….er ..superb 10f performer.
October 17, 2007 at 01:34 #119976Manduro based on my belief. the best was yet to come on Arc day

Can i have Fallon on board please?
October 17, 2007 at 08:24 #119987I would suggest Manduro, not just because of the form but also Fabre’s belief in him was quite something from that particular trainer
Invasor or Authorized biggest threats maybe
October 17, 2007 at 08:24 #119988Never mind the horses – on this year’s evidence in particular, calling the going genuinely "good" at Ascot with any degree of conviction requires a leap of faith.

October 17, 2007 at 09:14 #119990Manduro or Deep Impact followed by Invasor if he acted on grass, DT even with Fallon on board is way better at 12
October 17, 2007 at 09:58 #119995I suppose if we are going to go a couple of years further back, Giants Causeway would be real threat, being driven from 2 furlongs out, but keeps battleing to the line. But having looked at a few videos of Deep Impact on Japan form, he looked a little bit special. If the trip was upped to 1m4f then i would say Dylan Thomas would have a very good chance.
October 17, 2007 at 10:01 #119996Up the trip to 12f and the Japanese horse might have a chance.
(El Condor Pasa, that is).
October 17, 2007 at 10:30 #120002With fallon on and horse in top form Dylan Thomas every day of the week, a race can only be so good!

The other jockeys better be ready to take evasive action when Fallon loses control of steering yet again.
