Ffos Las, Worcester, Kempton and Salisbury all abandoned on Wednesday.

Only Carlisle in the UK set to race.

Must be question marks for Newmarket, Nottingham and Leicester on Thursday too.

Really poor again yesterday on SSR.

Who was on graphic removal duty? Generally late and didn’t remove the panel graphics during the 6.45 at Ffos Las. :negative:

A prime offender for wittering on after the race has started.

Although they only covered the major courses, French racing was much better when it was on RUK with Mark Johnson and “the crazy frog” Claude Charlet.

Good to see the Uttoxeter have reverted to the wooden framed, foam padded hurdles that now predominate on UK racecourses. Hope they stick with them.

Aesthetically, they look much better than the nasty looking easyfix versions they were trialling.

At the moment that just leaves Chepstow & Doncaster using the easyfix versions and Southwell & Worcester with the mobile brush hurdles.

What a genius idea, let’s just create more group races so we can all pretend we’re watching top class racing every weekend.

Of course we would just be watering down the sport even further, with more small fields, enabling owners and trainers to avoid the competition and gain cheap black type for their horse.

Fortunately, I don’t believe the Pattern Committee would contemplate such folly. If anything we need fewer pattern races.

    Let’s get a grip please.

SSR production is pretty dire. Another race start missed yesterday, as they were on an advert break.

Sky really struggle to cope with 3 meetings on the channel at the same time, plus fitting in 15-18 minutes of ads and promos every hour.

Also annoying is the inability of presenters both on and off-course to hand over to commentary before the start of a race. Appreciate some commentators don’t like early handovers in case of last second delays, but on occasions presenters are still waffling on 50 yards into a race.

Surely they should be getting told to shut up in their earpieces, or better still have their microphones hooked up to the starting button so they’re muted as soon as the race starts.

Not to mention those side panel graphics which often don’t get removed before a start, I could go on…..

Good to see ITV using the full screen SP graphic for the main meetings recently and always better when Richard Hoiles reads it out. :good:

Never understood why the main meeting used to get the inferior graphics.

“Aynsley China Hurdle (hope I have the name right)”

Not quite – It was the Royal Doulton Handicap Hurdle, better known as the Swinton Handicap Hurdle.

The Aynsley China Cup was a steeplechase at Chepstow.

The only racing worth watching tomorrow is at The Curragh.

    Thanks Helcatmudwrestler.

I only started the channel as a by-product of copying races from VHS to DVD. I thought I might as well upload the a few copied races to Youtube and it took off from there.

The channel isn’t monetised and I receive no income from it, as obviously I don’t own the content.

Any annoying adverts are the responsibility of Youtube and/or the copyright owner!

Another set of Aintree races on the way next week.

I think it will be a long process. Schooling and maybe a few point-to-point meetings to start with.

Main problem is they sold all their fixtures to ARC.

Might be a few fixtures going spare if Chelmsford closes for good, but of course it won’t be that simple.

If by some miracle it does re-open, I’ll be first in the queue at the opening meeting. It was my local course for decades, great viewing and the stiffest course in the country, uphill all the way from the third last.

Definitely Sebastian V with his distinctive white face and noseband. Made up a huge amount of ground on the second circuit.

If you inch the recording back frame by frame, I’m pretty sure the other horse is Andy Pandy who came down at Bechers, but got up pretty quickly to rejoin just behind the leaders.

Major overreaction by many (who think they know better), no surprise there.

There was an inspection and it was deemed safe to continue, bypassing the area of concern.

Could there be other undiscovered holes hidden below the surface? – possibly. This could be the case on any racecourse.

If we are to take seriously any of the paranoia exhibited recently, then all racing in the UK must be immediately suspended until a full survey of every racecourse has been performed, using ground penetrating radar.

Alternatively, we can take the sensible option and continue to trust the dedicated grounds staff with many years of experience, who inspect the track before, during and after each race meeting, to identify any areas of concern for further investigation and action if required.

Risk should always be properly assessed and mitigations put in place where appropriate, which is what Cheltenham did. It is never possible to eliminate risk completely.
