“Aynsley China Hurdle (hope I have the name right)”
Not quite – It was the Royal Doulton Handicap Hurdle, better known as the Swinton Handicap Hurdle.
The Aynsley China Cup was a steeplechase at Chepstow.

The only racing worth watching tomorrow is at The Curragh.

Thanks Helcatmudwrestler.
I only started the channel as a by-product of copying races from VHS to DVD. I thought I might as well upload the a few copied races to Youtube and it took off from there.
The channel isn’t monetised and I receive no income from it, as obviously I don’t own the content.
Any annoying adverts are the responsibility of Youtube and/or the copyright owner!
Another set of Aintree races on the way next week.

I think it will be a long process. Schooling and maybe a few point-to-point meetings to start with.
Main problem is they sold all their fixtures to ARC.
Might be a few fixtures going spare if Chelmsford closes for good, but of course it won’t be that simple.
If by some miracle it does re-open, I’ll be first in the queue at the opening meeting. It was my local course for decades, great viewing and the stiffest course in the country, uphill all the way from the third last.

Definitely Sebastian V with his distinctive white face and noseband. Made up a huge amount of ground on the second circuit.
If you inch the recording back frame by frame, I’m pretty sure the other horse is Andy Pandy who came down at Bechers, but got up pretty quickly to rejoin just behind the leaders.

Major overreaction by many (who think they know better), no surprise there.
There was an inspection and it was deemed safe to continue, bypassing the area of concern.
Could there be other undiscovered holes hidden below the surface? – possibly. This could be the case on any racecourse.
If we are to take seriously any of the paranoia exhibited recently, then all racing in the UK must be immediately suspended until a full survey of every racecourse has been performed, using ground penetrating radar.
Alternatively, we can take the sensible option and continue to trust the dedicated grounds staff with many years of experience, who inspect the track before, during and after each race meeting, to identify any areas of concern for further investigation and action if required.
Risk should always be properly assessed and mitigations put in place where appropriate, which is what Cheltenham did. It is never possible to eliminate risk completely.

Fair to say those on-screen graphics are having “teething troubles”.
The 1.35 Warwick running order graphics had the wrong colours for No.3 and the order froze after 15 seconds, so were wrong for almost the entire race (if anyone was taking notice).
I guess RTV felt they had to copy SSR and introduce them, but offer no benefit for the vast majority of viewers. If we have to suffer this additional annoyance, RTV should look at moving that whole row of graphics at the bottom of the screen down one line.
It just re-inforces my view that broadcasters seem to have lost the plot when it comes to how they present live racing to the viewers. They seem happy to clutter up the screen and obscure the race itself, but can’t bring themselves to provide a full screen graphic for the result and SP/Tote returns, when we would be missing nothing for a few seconds.

We already have a three day break – 23rd-25th December, which is a good thing.
Week long breaks are now programmed into the flat and N.H. programme.
I would let the weather decide.
Most of us think there are far too many fixtures, but the the BHA still insist on arranging additional meetings (3 so far this year) to compensate for abandonments.

So many jockeys have come and gone over the years, the majority without a mention in the media.
I have been using this website for several years for reference and it provides a huge amount of information and interesting stories. It is constantly being updated.

Huge praise to George, Chris, Alan and Chas for this creation.
Many on here will probably be aware of this site, but well worth a look if you’ve ever wondered what happened to a particular jockey that you remember.

We do indeed have a thread for SSR.

Mailman had a long career, racing as an 11-y-o.
A useful handicapper, won the Chesterfield Cup at Goodwood. Won amateur races at Ayr and Folkestone for Clare.
Owned by Mrs John A McDougald Farms Inc.

Disappointing that there isn’t an ITV Racing Diary for 2026, have been buying these for 40 years since Letts first produced it for Channel 4.
Will have to make do with the Racing Post or IJF version, but these are not as good in my opinion.

“I can never remember Kelso or Perth being under ATR or SSR! But I may be wrong.”
You’re wrong.
