Over obstacles Manhattan Boy is one that stands out.
Between 1986 and 1993 he won 14 times at Plumpton, all of them in Selling Hurdles, out of 64 runs at the course (88 total career runs).
Didn’t manage to win at any other track either.

Finally, at last!

Hopefully it will be at Wolverhampton so I won’t have to hear it.

As the saying goes, Richard knows which side his bread’s buttered.

Sounds like ITV were only marginally more interested than I was, but does explain why they wanted the Newmarket days switched.
Anyway, weather was very good in the end, so 5 hours of litter picking achieved today.

As a qualified Geologist, I can fully understand where he’s coming from.
Each racecourse has it’s own unique ground characteristics which vary, due to differing bedrock, hydrology/drainage, subsoil, topsoil and grass type for example.
A going stick can only be used as a guide to the going at individual tracks, it should not be used to provide universal going descriptions, i.e. a reading of 6.0 may indicate soft going at one course, but the same reading would indicate good to soft at another.
The BHA does recognise this in their going stick info:
https://www.britishhorseracing.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Going-Stick-Average-Readings-1.pdf
I would have thought it should be possible to publish the historical going stick readings for each racecourse to see how the going descriptions compare. Then there should be no need to misreport going stick readings as trainers and punters would understand what a particular reading would equate to at that particular course.
If Clerks cannot be trusted to provide accurate readings, maybe the BHA should require independent readings to be taken and reported.

ITV probably wanted a day to set-up at Newcastle on the Friday – apparently there’s racing taking place on Good Friday. I won’t be watching, zero interest in the artificial stuff. Nice to have a days break, unfortunately the weather doesn’t look great for next Friday at the moment.

This change was notified over 4 months ago, so those within the industry should have been well aware, but not sure how widely it was promulgated to the general public.

I wouldn’t say the horse had a hard race in any of those wins.

Ascot, Doncaster, Windsor?
Would it really be transferred to a non-Jockey Club course? I doubt it.
Anyway, why does it have to be transferred? If it’s not run at Kempton, then it’s not really the King George. Just have a final running and consign it to history.
Yes, there probably should be a two day meeting to focus on over the Christmas period, but that could be achieved with some fixture reorganisations and include a new Grade 1 ~ 3 mile chase.
Have a think and come up with a new name.

It was indeed a horrible fall. He was ejected from the saddle and landed head/neck first into the turf and then, to compound that, his mount crashed down on top of him.
Let’s hope he is not left with any lasting injuries, but it didn’t look good.

Derek is an excellent presenter and all round nice guy, but he’s never been a good commentator and the last few years have been embarrassingly poor.
The vast majority of his commentaries use the same stock phrases –
“Let’s see what’s going to happen”
“This is where it gets interesting”
“Wow, what a finish”
“Photo!”
“That’s one for the judge”It doesn’t reflect well on the industry that no one has had the courage to “have a word” with the Big Fella before it got to this sorry stage.

Seriously, that was poor, really poor. How bad do you have to be to get sacked? Silly question I know, it should have happened years ago.
Presumably he gets all his expenses for the day paid.
As he exclusively commentates from the monitor, couldn’t he work from home?

Not sure why he has to sound as though he’s being throttled at the end of a race.

He’s going to burst a blood vessel if he’s not careful.

Best news of the year, just one more year to suffer.

If you have set up a series link to record ITV Racing via Virgin Media, you may find (depending on the VM box you have) the programme scheduled on Friday (Cheltenham/Bangor) is not going to record automatically.
For some reason it has been titled “STV Racing Live” in the electronic listings so, unless this is updated by VM, you’ll need to set it to record separately.
If you live in Scotland, this advisory can probably be ignored.
