Towcester is one of those fairly large towns without a railway station. I wonder if that is due to Dr Beeching?
There was a railway station but its closure predated Beeching

I too hope Towcester reopens, that hill provided many a good spectacle.
April 2, 2026 at 15:07 #1761754Thanks Helcatmudwrestler.
I only started the channel as a by-product of copying races from VHS to DVD. I thought I might as well upload the a few copied races to Youtube and it took off from there.
The channel isn’t monetised and I receive no income from it, as obviously I don’t own the content.
Any annoying adverts are the responsibility of Youtube and/or the copyright owner!
Another set of Aintree races on the way next week.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

Ive never seen any traces of the old tracks/embankments on my travels around that area.April 2, 2026 at 20:22 #1761790The old railway station site is now underneath a Tesco store near the bypass. I suspected the building of the A43 bypass obliterated much of the former railway line and the Wikipedia entry for the station states:
‘The Towcester bypass has severed the trackbed near Greens Norton junction, but a section of embankment remains intact to the south of the road.’
