Looks like war command and Australia are both running. Aiden obrien still seems awfully confident they will both take the beating but without a previous run I think both will maybe struggle for fitness. It could be obriens three year olds will be better later in the season but it is now shaping up into a cracking guineas. Just need toormore to prove he’s ok in his trial and then he could have a cracking race.

Re : CH4 Grand National coverage.

It’s fair to say that the BBC did it so much better.

They had David Coleman, Peter O’Sullevan, Julian Wilson, John Hanmer, Michael O’Hehir … oh, and Richard Pitman, to but a few. :)

Compare that team to CH4’s line-up and it really is no contest. :|

Coudnt agree more that the bbc did racing much better than channel 4.With the exception of simon holt the commentators aren’t a patch on before and without Alistair down or mcririck there is no understanding or entertainment on it. I watch channel 4 as I don’t have racing uk but just fast forward to the races. Atr is so much better than the rest imho.

Very impressive from kingman although it does seem as a few either didn’t stay or run their race. We will get a better idea of the guineas after the trials but kingman definitely deserves to be favourite. It does seem as if 3yo colts aren’t up to speed yet so would stter clear of them in the guineas although it wouldn’t surprise me if australia bolted up as his last run last year was stunning and to me marked him out as a potential champion, but whether he will be at a mile remains to be seen. War command to me looks the best bet but as he seems unlikely to run then I think ill just watch the race. If there is big support for Australia on guineas day then expect a big run.

Did Ryan Moore then ride a shocker on Giovanni balding. Obrien could have gone right round the field on magician but whether he would have been any nearer is anybody’s guess. Too many people like to blame the jockey when on the day the horses were either not good enough or didn’t like the surface . I’d wait till the ballydoyle horses run again before to see if it wasn’t fitness that be at them. Obrien rode what looked like the perfect race on ruler of the world who then finished tamely. All about opinions.

I often wonder what aiden obrien thinks when these dilemnas come up. I would have thought that war command and indian maharaja would be his two best bets at a mile and australia and geoffrey chaucer the best bets at 10 and 12f. I do agree that war command could well be australias toughest opponent in the 2000 guineas but as you say commercial value will come first. I Think once the guineas is out of the way we will see war command in group ones over a mile and australia will step up in distance. It will be interesting to see where ruler of the world runs and at what distance as the new joint owners will have to come to an agreement on it and i doubt aiden will have much say in it.

The main reason why aiden obrien and the teams from hong kong run in the big race is the money. If the race was on turf then ruler of the world would be a short priced favourite. Its anybodys guess as to whether any of the first three in the betting will handle the track and surface so we will just have to wait and see. red cadeux ew looks the best bet to me.

Labrokes now quoting 2/1 Australia for the 2000 Guineas !!! 9/4 for the Derby. Strange as I’d of thought he’s a better Derby prospect than 2000 Guineas or have I missed something?

Ladbrokes, especially mike Dillon, seem to know what is going on at coolmore so it sounds like its Australia is going for the guineas. I think to be honest war command will not face Australia because a fast run guineas on good ground would probably see war command in with a good shout of beating Australia. Australia must be showing enough speed at home to want them to go for the Guineas but I can’t help feeling that war command is going to be a top class colt at a mile and Australia much better at 10 and 12 f. As with all decisions at cool more I fancy aiden has to follow the instructions from the lads with john magnier having the final say. I feel sorry for aides obrien as no other trainer gets the pressure he does especially when you consider the likes of the late sir Henry or Michael stoute are left to do what they thinks best from the horse. I think aiden may produce better results if they would leave the decisions to him.

I’m not convinced treve will be able to repeat last years effort. It’s very hard to win 2 arcs back to back and of course we don’t know what the 3year olds will be like this year. 4 year olds like magician and ruler of the world haven’t had much racing and no doubt japan and Germany might have horses who will be very competitive. It also depends whether the top trainers target the breeders cup instead of the arc. Danedream never quite repeated her arc heroics but if anybody can do the double it is the head dynasty. I doubt very much that the likes of Australia will go to the arc. The breeders cup seems to be more important for a stallion credentials than the arc these days.

There does seem to be a lot of wind that comes out of the current presenters. As with most organisations in general ch 4 seem to think they know better than the customer. Me thinks the ship will hit the rocks sooner or later.

Probably one of the most confusing big races ever. I think lw might run a big race at either aintree or punchestown but dont think oho or tgb will be near the front. Why bobsworth and sc didnt run up to their rating is anybodys guess but it makes it a fascinating prospect when they all meet again. Its likely to be decent ground at aintree but then much softer at punchestown so i wouldnt expect to see any consistent form if any horse runs at both those venues. No wonder the bookies coin it in.

Lord Windermere has been roughed off for the season, apparently.

Bobs Worth hasn’t got any suitable races left this season, so I’d be surprised if he were to run again. Silviniaco might go to Aintree and flop again, just like last year. The rest will probably go to Punchestown and finish in some random order.

In some random order with the outsider winning and the favourite third.

I dont know why aiden obrien keeps saying that every year that he could have the best horse hes ever trained. From what a lot of the previous jockeys at ballydoyle have said he is an intense person and has a very pressurised job as he is expected to keep turning out stallions like mastercraftsman and now declaration of war. Australia could turn out to be a star and by goodness he is bred to be, but until he has done it on the track then he is just an extremely exciting colt.

Ausralias price does seem to be unbelievably short. i can only assume coolmore have steamed into it but they usually leave that till the day of the race.Im still not convinced hes going to the guineas as aiden obrien said that if he was war command might end up going to the french 2000 guineas. If it comes up very soft at newmarket then both war command and australia could miss the race. Its always a big gamble backing a horse in the 2000 guineas especially as you dont know whos trained on and if they havent run this season then how well they are. Fwiw australia look superb in the obrien gallop testerday but the one that stood out was tapestry. That looked a serious racehorse and if if is good to soft or better i tnink she looks great value for the 1000 guineas.if it is soft at newmarket then the first tto in the racing post trophy, kingston hill and johann strauus will be who i will be backing.

Its neither light entertainment or an informative racing programme.I know mcririck isnt to everbodys taste but as he has shown on atr he is still by far the most interesting pundit. Channel 4 need to admit their mistake, get thommo, big mac and alistair down back on and get matt chapman as well.I only watch channel 4 when atr arent covering the races and unless they sort it out we could end up not seeing racing on terrestial tv as channel 4 wont let this go on forever.Of the current channel 4 set up id only keep graham cunningham and of the course the gorgeous gina bryce. The rest im afraid need to go.

I’m not sure Australia will end up at Newmarket. I would have thought that war command will be coolmores no1 at Newmarket. I can see Australia doing the derby trial route. Australia’s form through kingfisher certainly in my eyes sees him a worthy favourite for the derby especially as his pedigree screams 12f. Btw I think outstrip looks the best value to me for the guineas.
