Cheers VTC. I’m going to chip away at him while he’s still a decent price. Fingers crossed he takes to fences. His size and scope gives me optimism but you can never be certain. I do think after pulling like he did in the potato race he could be quite special.
This is my strongest ante-post fancy so far (even though I said I wasn’t going to get involved early!). Minella Indo looks a right tool. Up in the van all the way and raced way too keen. Took it up about 3/4 of a mile out in an above average Albert Bartlett. No better trainer of a novice chaser than HDB. 20s looks a very fair price and already on.
I’m hoping that Yorkhill gets re-routed to the CH. Got it @12s in a treble with Unowhatimeanharry @14s and Thistlecrack @5s.
I thought L’il Rockerfeller ran a cracking race giving weight all round on his return on Saturday. The only quote I could find for the World Hurdle was Bet365’s @25s. I tweeted PP for a quote and they’ve put him in @33s; had to have a little dabble.
Same here Homer. Bet365 were the only ones quoting him for the World Hurdle after the race. I tweeted PP for a price and now they’ve introduced him @33s. Worth a little poke.
Come on TAPK, you’re talking through your pocket now. You cannot say Cue Card would’ve won easy. I would’ve been interesting if Cue Card did stay on his feet because he was back on the snaff but the Don is a very strong stayer.
I’m guessing you’re going to tell me that Don Cossack wouldn’t have won the KG if he hadn’t fallen.
Anyway, Thistlecrack has the potential to blow them all out of the water. 178 RPR doesn’t necessarily translate to fences but I really believe he could do it next year. With no ground worries I might have to have a tickle.
That’s a pretty confident shout regarding Sempre Medici, Zarkava, although can’t have it myself. Been put in it’s place by Nichols Canyon. With you on Camping Ground – 25s is pretty tasty, but a rain dance might be required. With NRNB it’s the bet that appeals most in the race, weather permitting.
Good work, fella. I doth my cap. Can’t believe Betfair were had him so big.
Totally agree on value grounds, IBRacing, about UDS being remotely a betting proposition. I don’t by the easy lead part though as no other horse has the cruising speed to go with him and if they do the likelihood is that they’ll drop like a stone when it comes to the business end.
Knocking bet, TAPK. I was suitably impressed with him yesterday, but do you honestly believe he will even get UDS off the bridle? Vibrato Valtat was rated 21lbs interior to UDS over timber – but you would be happy if you’re holding a tasty ew voucher, as they’ll probably be no more than 7 runners in the Arkle.
Not wanting to piss on your chips but VV is fruitless from 3 trips to Prestbury. Best of luck with the bet though.
Vibrato Valtat was rated 140 over hurdles. Way below the average for an Arkle winner. I’ll be looking for my ew pickings elsewhere.
How did you manage to get 33s? Not long ago you were waxing lyrical that this was a shoe-in for the RSA?
It’s all conjecture but I’m in Sea Pigeon’s camp; surely SS will come on for the run. TAPK saying he was 99% fit is nonsense, although you are sitting on a nice bet there, fella.
That said, his form at the festival would be enough of a concern to back him at 5s.
TAPK. I don’t think the dreaded bounce factor even comes into the equation does it? There’s 7 weeks till the festival, not a week.
Toronado was a fantastic pace maker, wasn’t he?
Nice pic, Hammy.
Up close and personal!

Apologies Triptych, I should be referring to you as M’lady and not fella.
CJ80, that is one heck of a time. Still can’t believe DA ran and won the first 2yo race in Ireland and then ended up winning the Guineas.
I really can’t see the others catching him up.
