I had a fruitless season following Oscar Rock last year. After his Chase win at Market Rasen I thought he’d go on to better things and bet accordingly, but he disappointed and failed to win another race. Still, I think he has talent and won’t desert him yet, especially at 28/1 (Paddy Power) back over hurdles.
The West Yorkshire Hurdle is normally a reasonably classy affair with one or two World Hurdle aspirants. It doesn’t look that strong this season and he’s worth taking a chance with. Oscar Rock has won on 3 out of 4 seasonal debuts. This is the time of year to catch him. Shame there is not just one extra runner to help each way backers with a third place.

October 29, 2016 at 17:53 #1269326That was a poor renewal…wish mine had run! :(
October 29, 2016 at 18:00 #1269331BTW, Bobby, that was the Native River that stuck in my mind from Wetherby last year, even though the going was much different. He needed an awful lot of pushing and seemed horrendously lazy. I wonder if he maybe just hates that track? But for his Aintree win, you could maybe put it down to the tightness of the track… maybe they’ll try blinkers.

November 1, 2016 at 12:39 #1269948Same here Homer. Bet365 were the only ones quoting him for the World Hurdle after the race. I tweeted PP for a price and now they’ve introduced him @33s. Worth a little poke.
November 1, 2016 at 22:50 #1270061Sorry Joe, had missed this. Yeah, he’s not the simplest ride for sure, but hopefully he can throw in a couple of decent runs this year, and wouldn’t have an issue with them trying blinkers.
Still mad keen on him for The Hennessy, and I’m certain he’s a future Gold Cup Winner, despite what we seen at Wetherby lol
