Thanks Mike, I did not realise that. Clearly a legitimate explanation for her run and I hope she is OK but horses who break blood vessels never carry my money when they return. From a selfish point of view I am glad I did not get involved in the race today, although pleased to see De Bromhead and Bkackmore have another Grade 1 winner.

CDO will always have his place in history as a dual King George winner. Still cannot have him for Cheltenham. He has beaten two non stayers, a horse who was not good enough and another horse who seriously underperformed and is possibly better left handed.

I still think Al Boum Photo is underappreciated and if he wins on his debut has got to be favourite.

Makes you wonder what Faugheen could have achieved over fences had he gone over them earlier and if injury had not intervened as well.

Samcro really needs to win something soon to get his career back on track.

Great win by Epatante. They must go here now getting the allowance but I suppose there is question mark over the form after Fusili Raffles pulled up.

I doubt Laurina would have won over any distance today.

I was pleased to see the Sandown bans were struck out. The process for stopping the race was clearly inadequate.

All these horses putting up unsatisfactory trials yet the one horse who was impressive – Honeysuckle – will probably not run in the race.

As Tony Morris once said, sad, mad, bad.

Agree with Kris. The location could be the problem here.

Part of the reason why Laytown is so successful is because it is easy to get to on the train from Dublin. It is only a short walk to the “track” from the local station with a good pub or two on the way.

The one time I went to Fakenham, it took about two hours from Kings Cross to Kings Lynn and then I had to wait a while for a bus to Fakenham which took about 45 minutes to get there. I know a lot of tourists go to the Norfolk coast but they are not all racegoers.

Despite the journey, Fakenham is well worth a visit. A proper small jumps track.

I am sceptical. It sounds like a bit of a gimmick. Is there really demand for it here?

Having said that, I can highly recommend a trip to Laytown. I went there four years ago and it really does live up to the hype.

I expect the meeting at Down Royal on Boxing Day will not be shown live by RTV. I think that was the case on ATR sometimes. However, that is still 7 meetings to fit in. Are they really going to show the King George on a split screen?

Boxing Day on RTV will be fun. Kempton, Wincanton, Wetherby, Market Rasen, Huntingdon, Leopardstown, Limerick and Down Royal. Will it ever have a full screen?

To be fair, Davy Russell’s illness delayed the race at Punchestown which is no one’s fault. However, scheduling the two main races within 10 minutes of each other did run the risk of a clash.

Irish racing is being short changed by RTV. British racing always takes priority. Only having full screen and commentary on an important Grade 1 for the last half mile is not good.

There was one day last week when RTV had a split screen on the first two races of the day!

When golf is suspended because of a risk of thunder and lightning, klaxons are sounded on every hole. You cannot fail to hear them.

I watched the replay this morning. The man with the yellow flag was just holding it and not waving the flag. I can see why the jockeys did not appreciate the seriousness of the situation. After they go round the Pond Fence, there is someone waving a black and white chequered flag by the second last. Why the inconsistency?

If the stewards wanted the race to be stopped it should have been stopped earlier.

They should know what it means but at the end of the day they have made a mistake. Does that merit such a severe punishment, all the more so given it rules them out of the busy Christmas period?

Another jockey got 10 days quite recently for not riding a horse on its merits or obtaining the best placing. I believe that is a much more serious offence yet it seems the authorities see them as equal.

7 jockeys have got 10 day bans. Do not know if that is fair but if they saw the yellow flag they should know it means stop.

Been out and not seen any racing so at least I missed this – it sounds horrible. So sorry for the horse and connections.
