It might have escaped your attention Skippy but those people who sit behind the screens in the betting shop are supposedly trained and paid to give you this sort of advice. If you’re too shy or too young to ask them then please send me five pounds and I’ll even write it out for you.

(This World Cup Fever seems very contagious and the symptoms are producing some strange posts. Call for the doctor, nurse.)The big worry now is that as Harry ‘The Lay’ Findlay will be spending less time on BHA premises and attending race meetings it’s very likely he will be spending his time ‘planning ahead’ and devising new strategies for the future. In fact I’d be very wary of betting with Betfair or anywhere else for the next six months because Harry might be on a recovery mission to restore his lost pride and you might be the next victim of his need to be ‘the man’. This guy is going nowhere, his ego will not allow himself to go out with a whimper. Think of him as a wounded lion, determined on revenge. Will it be your money that strays into his coffers?
Sorry to disagree with you Anthonycutt, in that I don’t feel sorry for him one iota.
In fact if I was in charge of the disciplinary panel I’d insist that he had the offending ‘lay button’ finger cut off at the knuckle. That’d teach him.
I seem to recall someone on here suggesting only a few months ago that "Harry’s day in the sun was about to be eclipsed." Oh gosh, I think it was Ken(West Derby).

NO ONE IS ABOVE RACING, AT LEAST THATS THE UTOPIAN VIEW.
DO THE CRIME, NOW DO THE TIME; SIMPLE.
Ph Student, is this the kind of intellectual gobbledygook that I pay my taxes for people like you to sit on your backsides in so-called Universities to study utter nonsense?
Please explain the third sentence; which Utopian came out with this statement? Name names, please. In fact, I’ve never heard of Utopian horse racing and I didn’t have to go to University to know that. Surely you should be taking a more philosophical view of Harry’s misdemeanor. The guy’s good to his mum and that’s the only yardstick the BHA should be concerned about. I bet she’s feeling very upset about her young ‘arry in all this bother.
KHi Bart,
Not sure if this helps but visit the BHA website and click into the Trainer Directory where you will see every trainers’ phone/Email and get writing.
Incidentally, when you state…Length: 5’9" is that standing-up or lying down?
We tend to use the word..height.
Good luck in your quest though you’re going to face stiff opposition from these much lighter work riders from the Indian sub-continent, I fear.
KHe was certainly on a high when Claire interviewed him after his second winner at Epsom, saying that his confidence in himself had now been restored. A man of extremes, highs and lows always inches away from the self-destruct button.
"Look Ryan, Stuart proved to you that pigs can fly so you’ve got to believe that Workforce will win."
"Yes, boss, but it was only an ornamental pig.""Just keep doing it Claire and stop worrying, no-one can see us and Ryan’s blocking their view. I’m nearly there…"
"Thanks Cormack but I really do think I’ve eaten enough of your pork pies already."
Leinster,
A quick perusal of your posts seems to suggest that you enjoy plugging other sites, rather than offering any views/opinions yourself. Are you a spammer by any chance?Chizzers wrote…This is without doubt the weirdest and most senseless thread I have encountered here
Poor boy, Chiz. Not recognising culture is a great sadness and indicative of a wasted life. But do not condemn yourself too greatly as you are just one of many wisps of fauna floating around these margins.
For those of us blessed with an appreciation of the art of the word artisan I am always humbled by the offerings of Gamble, an enigma in his own lifetime, a purveyor of sophistication and a weaver of vocabulary the likes of which defines a man of great stature and immense capacity to see beyond the vagaries of we mere mortals.Given time and understanding, Chizzers, you too could join us on this journey of learning and savour the joys of exploring the mind of Gamble. Unfold, as a bud unfolds unto a flower.

Cormack wrote….but anyone continually starting threads simply to criticise what they think are poor rides will be warned and then banned.
Using the same rationale, will threads praising a jockey as ‘the best thing since sliced bread’ often based on the merits of one ride attract similar disciplinary action, please?
My fear about this diktat is that it will invariably dissuade most forumites from criticising any ride, no matter how blatantly suspect, for fear of having their ‘card marked’. Do you really want a squeaky clean forum where views are sanitised and censorship becomes the norm rather than the exception?
I agree with recent remarks that some threads/posts have become somewhat inane and have contributed to the forum seemingly becoming less robust and dynamic with only the occasional thread attracting the cut and thrust of articulate debate (e.g. Lydia) though I fear some past forum contributors may have been warned-off for what, in global terms, have only been minor misdemeanors and petty skirmishes.

I know the feeling only too well having ‘tipped’ numerous potential winners in the various competitions here in recent times.
I’ve come to the conclusion that many of the Usernames on here are, in actual fact, professional jockeys masquerading as punters and pundits. This explains why my ‘tipping’ selections are doing so badly. These so-called ‘forumites’ are riding to lose races simply because they’re determined to see me come last in every competition. I reckon Nathan Hughes has got at them with his pot of gold. Notice the same surname as Richard?
Come on guys, reveal yourselves and at least give me a decent run for my money.
I agree, EtW, it’s only the first week and I’m beginning to suffer burn-out already. This hot weather is not really conducive to slavishly studying form for over a dozen or more races.
However, had I had the flying start that Nathan has had perhaps the adrenalin would have kicked in by now.Did anyone notice that the final leg saved the bacon? By that I mean that our old friend Mr.Curley was meant to be the icing on the cake with a juicy 6/1 winner in the last at Sandown. That’s what friends are for….

Eton or Harrow? Now I understand where you’re coming from Andyod. It must have scarred you for life receiving those regular thrashings from the sixth-form prefects.
I defer to your seniority on matters pertaining to horse racing but I cannot accept what appears to be a somewhat snobbish perception of betting shop punters. Even though your assertion that they are brainless in thinking they can beat the bookie might be close to the truth I think it’s important to recognise that not all will have enjoyed the privileged experience of a private education.
All that apart, good wishes to you. Keep taking the pills.
KIn response to my post, Andyod wrote… If you really think the bookies are nice guys you should visit your psychiatrist.
…..Joe Public should not be messing around with them to begin with. They have only one objective; to transfer the money from your pocket to theirs.
…..If you think a small time trainer is training horses for the benefit of Joe Public again another visit to you know who.
…..Gambling is a mugs game and the mugs lose and that includes Joe Public.Joe should also see you know who if he thinks he will make money visiting his local bookmaker.
…..I cannot believe that any sane person would write such stuff. The least well-off in society have money to throw away at the bookies offices? I don’t thnk so. Those with money to waste at the bookies are the least well off in brains but not in money.
…..Sorry but they contribute to the bookies but not to racing. Upon reflection I realised that you were just joking.
Seeking a discussion perhaps.Dear Andyod, location Sacramento, C.A. U.S.A.???
I think your location tells me all I need to know about you Andyod. Land of the Brave with a Psychotherapist on every street corner.
For the record though, I don’t have a psychiatrist at present. I drove the last one nuts and he said I was beyond help.
I’m somewhat bemused by your statement that gambling is a mug’s game. Apart from teaching your granny to suck eggs I can’t understand what on earth would interest you in joining a forum like this. Wouldn’t your time be better spent pursuing more sensible and productive pursuits, such as clearing up some of that oil that you’re polluting the oceans with?
Your opinion of the people who frequent betting shops is rather disparaging, offensive and dare I say somewhat arrogant.
Their contribution to racing is immense but I don’t wish to patronize you by explaining how.
