I take it you were on the second horse like me Matthew? As for the winner…it was just another ride like thousands I’ve seen over the years…not really anything to write home about…or for that matter, this section of the forum.

On the other hand, if you see a jockey fall off, run a hundred yards doing somersaults before jumping back on and winning doing handstands in the saddle then perhaps, but only perhaps, some of us might consider it a worthwhile thread. But then again, it is only history and maybe best not to dwell on the past too much.

Curley quote…The horses here have the best time of any stable in the world.

Precisely…. They don’t have to do a bl..dy tap in any of their races even though Joe Public might have placed his hard-earned cash on them thinking he’s going to get a decent and honest run for his money.

If you’re going to pull tricks like that Curley just have the common decency to keep quiet about it. Rubbing people’s noses in your excrement does a great disservice to racing.

If you were just an ordinary guy who had pulled one over on the bookies I’d have the greatest admiration for you. But because you are who you are you’re no better than an inside-dealer on the Stock Exchange. Only difference being that when they get caught they end up in prison whereas you get off scott-free.

Rather than attract more people to the game, the chances are you’ve only served to reinforce a growing knowledge that racing and betting has its own class system, i.e. those in the stable, those in the know and, finally, those on the outside. Regrettably, it’s the latter group who are the least well-off in society who continue to contribute most to the sport.

Sounds as if you got an even terser response there, Newmarketinsider.
I’m sure Barry is a great family guy and an even better ‘favourite Uncle’ but when it comes to punters he doesn’t seem to suffer fools gladly. Which is one of the reasons he’s never given me the time of day on here, I think. I’d love to be at the races and take him to the cleaners and then when he was packing his bags to go home early I’d hand him his money back and say, "Let that be a lesson to you, Barry, don’t try to mix it with the small players. I’ve let you off the hook this time but if you don’t change your ways and be more civil to we ‘silly’ punters I’ll come back and clean you out for good." I can just picture him slinking off with his tail between his legs, suitably chastised.

Now there was a name that seemed familiar…Carl Rafter. Could it possibly be the same one from days gone by?
Thanks for the insight Miss W.

Now that’s what I call bad luck, Gamble. Only another seven lengths faster and you’d have been on the money. I don’t know about needing Charlotte aboard, perhaps Gavin would have had more brute strength.
Please, someone, excuse my ignorance but what or who is this Razzle thing?
    Thanks

Gamble wrote..Somebody told me yesterday they take fifty pounds and empty it into the machine to see what comes out.

Personally, I preferred those old penny machines where you had to flick the metal ball into a win/lose slot. If you were lucky and managed to get into the win slot you won a Kit Kat.
Once upon a time, I came across a machine where the mechanism was broken and the ball kept being returned regardless of whether it went in win or lose. So much so that I cleaned the machine out of Kit Kats. When I went to complain to the attendant that the machine was no longer paying out Kit Kats I was quickly sent on my way in a far from polite manner.
Since then and over the years I seem to have kept Mr. Ladbroke in a plentiful supply of Kit Kats.

That’s precisely the point, Mat. David is getting your point. I think it’s called irony.

This might seem outrageous and insane but earlier today I had this overwhelming urge to visit The Racing Forum. At first I ignored these inner voices telling me a Username and Password and that I should search for a thread by a Mr. Nathan Hughes.
I resisted until the feelings have now become unbearable. So here I am but now I am even more confused. You see, for the past few weeks I’ve had this strange sense of having been abducted by aliens at some time in the recent past. Even more peculiar is that I now recognise the name mentioned by Nathan on this thread….Ken(West Derby). This name rings a bell because it is how one of the aliens introduced himself aboard the mother ship. He told me that Ken(West Derby) was his earthly name but now he was returning to his home planet outside of the Milky Way. Whilst on Earth he had joined The Racing Forum and that the reason I had been abducted was to be persuaded to continue his mission, which was to become the World Tipping Champion.
I laughed at my alien abductors saying that I knew nothing about racing but they reassured me that they would be assisting me from afar by influencing the outcome of races. So, although I am known as Conundrum I think it’s only fair to advise you that I am only joining the Tipping Competition in memory of Ken, a good alien with a kind heart…correction he hasn’t got a heart but if he did have one I reckon it would be kind.
Anyway, folks, I hope that goes some way to possibly explaining Ken’s absence and I’m sure we wish him well, wherever the end of the Universe is.
