For crying out loud – can something not be done about this?
McCoy gets beaten on a couple of Gordon Eliott-trained odds-on shots and he’s branded a cheat, conspiring in numerous ‘brown envelope jobs’.
McCoy then boots home an odds-on shot and he’s a hero.
The hugely talented Jimmy Derham is beaten on a questionable even-money favourite and is slaughtered.
Ryan Mahon edges home a Paul Nicholls-trained favourite and, after a supreme case of aftertiming, is awarded ride of the week by Wednesday.
Money is obviously everything for you Matthew, as it’s down on every jockey you praise or accuse of being corrupt, so why not contain all of your thoughts in one thread in the Lays And Plays section? It’ll stop you clogging up the main forum and you’ll have the opportunity to put your bets up beforehand.
June 2, 2010 at 15:36 #298216No money isn’t the be all and end all, I cam sit here
and not have a bet and appreciate efforts or great timing from
jockeys and that was a brilliant ride.Didn’t you think so?
June 2, 2010 at 15:40 #298217Good ride from a much-improved jockey, but you have to say he had a very willing partner.

Yeah, I was very disappointed with the run of River Indus, ran no sort
of race at all.June 2, 2010 at 15:59 #298222Good ride from a much-improved jockey, but you have to say he had a very willing partner.
Today at least. Mustangsallyrally has dropped the lot on at least a couple of occasions in the pointing field between today’s effort and an equally spirited near-miss in the Coronation Cup at Larkhill three months ago. One particularly woofy effort at Ston Easton in March springs to mind readily.
Mahon wasn’t on board for any of the flops (a 3l second to Thisthatandtother at Badbury Rings seemed a fair enough reversal, given that one is still nigh on unstoppable in Wessex open points under Jack Barber), so my first inclination is to think highly of the jockey for soothing and inspiring a tricky beast.
Will be interesting to see how he consents to go for a professional again if connections decide to grasp that nettle in the near future, though.

June 2, 2010 at 16:09 #298226I’ll bow to you there then gc – and that makes the ride look even better.
With that in mind he did well not to reach for the whip at the first signs of indolence and just kept humouring Mustangsallyrally as long as possible. Very mature indeed.

I take it you were on the second horse like me Matthew? As for the winner…it was just another ride like thousands I’ve seen over the years…not really anything to write home about…or for that matter, this section of the forum.
On the other hand, if you see a jockey fall off, run a hundred yards doing somersaults before jumping back on and winning doing handstands in the saddle then perhaps, but only perhaps, some of us might consider it a worthwhile thread. But then again, it is only history and maybe best not to dwell on the past too much.
KJune 2, 2010 at 16:39 #298240I thought it was brilliant because of the difficulty of
the horse and the persistance. - AuthorPosts
