I also thought he’d got up, as did the camera man aswell.Careful though, don’t moan too much otherwise you’ll get ‘Grandad’ Graysons Column having a moan

You can add Hughes ride to an ever growing long list of poor rides that we see day in day out.
Kelly at Newcastle there was incredible.
God help racing, it surely has no future at all with the crop of jockeys riding out there.

But you’d arguarbly put Hughes in the top 6?
I’d go: – 1). Moore
2). Dettori
3). Fallon
4). Murtagh
5). Hughes
6). Spencer. No excuse for that ride though

Have not seen the race, however I prefer to read Graysons Columns insightful posts about national hunt and point to point racing than pocket talking moaners.

Id probably have to agree with you there that Hughes would be in the top 6 but what does that say???
To be honest I think the standard of jockeyship as a whole in racing these days is shocking compared to years ago.
Yes we have individuals who are capable of utter brilliance in the saddle but what strikes me is the sure lack of consistancy amongst jockeys these days. Yes all jockeys are entitled to errors but take Spencer for example who you rate as 6th best, yes he can be outstanding but at the same time he puts in 4 or 5 howlers every week without fail.
FORM IS TEMPORARY WHILST CLASS IS PERMANENT
The lack of consistancy is shocking amongst jockeys in the sport….
I cant be accused of pocket talking, I dont bet on horses largely due to jockey ability. Its no longer 90% horses 10% jockey. Could be argued in some cases that its 50/50.
In Hughes case tonight is was 0% horse / 100% jockeys – the horse was capable, Hughes was not.

Just in reference to moments of brilliance.
Phillip Makin was absolutely outstanding there. Power packed giving his all. That was a great race to watch.

Good jockey as is Buick the only two I find overated are the Hills brothers.
June 5, 2010 at 20:17 #298883Wasn’t great, was it ? … and I’m sure he’ll know he should have won.
Question is, in the grand scheme of things, how much did he care ? … He might have apologised to the connections and he’ll have probably made some half-hearted excuse as regards the horse not wanting to go through with his effort.
But …. as for the punter sat in front of his screen manipulating his Betfair account … or the lonely old chap cursing him in the bookies on a Saturday night coz he’s just lost his 50p … or the pro that had 700 to 400 on the rails ………….. I’m guessing he couldn’t give a flying ****
In common with many of the jockeys that like to ride in this style, it looks great when it comes off but you don’t half look stupid when it doesn’t … at least he now knows Rapid City ain’t no Paco Boy !!

Out of order.
Forum seems to be going through a bit of troll period at the moment.

Just trying to imagine Jeremy as a Grandad.

Agreed Cav, shame you didn’t think the same thing about Lydia though.
Value Is EverythingJune 5, 2010 at 21:41 #298910Now I know why the Betfair forum is so quiet these days, they’re all posting on here instead!
