Personally, I thought his ride in the last was a disgrace. Slow out of the gates, got himself boxed in and his use of the whip was pathetic. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a horse.
Smart a**e
… btw, my comment doesn’t mean I’m not aware of the need to constantly try to attract new blood into the sport … just not convinced that what I’ve seen so far from RFC suggests they have any idea how to do it either
To be fair it’s been heading this way for some time … seems they would rather have the ‘in-joke’ style of presenting than the serious journo analysis of someone like Alistair Down … not sure who they think is actually watching … someone ought to remind them it’s still the regular punters and not the so-called ‘new’ audience they seem intent on trying to attract.
Glad I’m not the only one irritated by the contributions of Emma Spencer … they might just as well ask her, "so, Emma, I guess you can’t see past the favourite / Jamie’s ride again ?" (delete whichever applicable)
Quite taken by Damien’s 2nd to Markab which looks a good run given his King’s Stand form this week … went on to finish a running on 7th behind four of this afternoon’s Golden Jubilee runners at York … only his 2nd run in a handicap and 25/1 looks good each way value with the Hills team also in good form.
Just looked again at Ahern’s ride … wouldn’t want to be overly critical.
Didn’t have the tactical speed out of stall 20 to take a good position on the rail (nearly said pozzy !!) and got caught in traffic on the home turn … then got murdered by Paul Hanagan on Life and Soul just as he looked for a gap after which he had to switch around the whole field for his run … by which time of course the leaders had flown … winner won well mind you !!
Berling certainly the one to take away from the race … except every man and his dog will want to be on him next time !!
Stone cold last
… you’ve got to laugh … got caught wide from the break and never looked happy … then got murdered in the straight when on the retreat£7,500 for a place !!! … c’est la vie
Don’t do Betfair, Librettist … only small time punter … avoid Betfair and don’t hold telephone accounts any more … wise enough to recognise I have an addictive personality trait and have always kept it under control … the same reason I avoid fruit machines and all other computer games such as X-Box, Play Station & Wii
and certainly don’t feel as though I’m missing anything !!Que sera sera … still debating whether to watch it or not on the red button

I don’t think there’s much chance of Ryan Moore losing his perspective.
To hear his dad talk about him you get the distinct impression he doesn’t yet think Ryan’s too old to get a clip round the ear if he deemed he was getting too big for his boots.

That said, let’s not pretend that this thread was meant to be anything other than an excuse for Matthew to after-time. Again.
What on earth is wrong with some of the people on here recently ? … why the need to pillory certain contributors just because they happen to mention they’ve backed a horse after the race is run.
Is it some sort of unwritten forum rule that I’m unaware of that "after-timing" has to be punished with sarcasm and ridicule ? … I’ve not been on here all that long but seems to me that some people think this forum exists solely for the benefit of massaging their own egos and are so far up their own **** you can barely see the soles of their shoes.
Get over yourselves for heaven’s sake … it’s a racing forum and not, as several people seem to believe, some sort of literary BGT equivalent to find the next Mark ruddy Twain.
I joined because I thought it would be fun, informative and insightful … more like a bitching session at the Women’s Institute at the moment.
Rant over

Have to say I’m not liking the tone of one or two of the responses on this thread … elements of social snobbery and thinly disguised attempts to take the **** … yes, you know who you are … not big and not clever … suggest if you want your own literary gentlemen’s club you go off and form your own somewhere else so that you can vet the applications to join and set them an entrance exam before you allow them to post their views.
Have noticed several attempts to undermine Matthew recently in terms of his contributions … if you don’t like them then don’t respond … simples !!!
Fickle, Matthew … very fickle

Just shows it’s all about fractions and split second decisions … he could quite easily have had the door shut on him a furlong out but the gaps opened for him this time.
Roddy, all about opinions I guess … wouldn’t disagree that the French filly is the more versatile of the two in terms of running styles … impossible to say what more Goldikova would have found had Paco Boy managed to get on terms ? … but watching it again you can’t help thinking it was maybe more comfortable than it appeared … (I’d still back Paco next time though)

posted my views at the same time … Don’t be too harsh on him, Matthew … he made his choice early to come up the rails and the gap was just a fraction late in appearing … split second decisions and can’t be too critical … very quick time and if they met again I’d back Paco to gain his revenge.Weatherby’s Ratings currently list the following options … take your pick

3. Desert StyleI generally like to take a look at those that did well in the corresponding tournament the previous year … quite often players will come back that have played the course well before and repeat their form.
As much as I’m convinced that Adam Scott will one day win a major (and I’ve backed him blindly to do so on many an occasion) I’ve left him out of this one … my three ew against the field are as follows …
Hunter Mahan @ 50/1
Sean O’Hair @ 66/1
Ricky Barnes @ 80/1- AuthorPosts
