Seen a couple of his interviews this week, top notch
    entertainment.

Racing is full of characters, but he’s definitely my
favourite, he’s lost around £70k overall this week and
admittedly he’ll get it back and more but that interview
with Big Mac was tremendous, Barry I salute you :!: :D

Personally, I thought his ride in the last was a disgrace. Slow out of the gates, got himself boxed in and his use of the whip was pathetic. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a horse.

Perhaps you’re right BurroughHillLad but as someone famous once wrote…’can be somewhat of an acquired taste … in common with many other people I’ve met in my life that possess an extraordinary self confidence, there is sometimes a fine line between that self confidence and arrogance’

there is sometimes a fine line between that self confidence and arrogance’

A quotation generally attributed in modern times to renowned industrialist, Jack Welch, CEO of General Electric, the company I was employed by for over 30 years. (Straight from the Gut. 2001) … Also known within the business community as "Neutron Jack" for his ability to eliminate employees whilst leaving buildings intact.

I once had someone work for me who fell into this category and I often reminded him of this quotation. I had a devil of a job to convince the other managers in the Plant that his arrogance was borne of self confidence in his own ability. It’s a difficult trick to pull off convincingly and remain likeable … some can, some can’t

Unfortunately, your response fell into neither category and was more akin to Oscar Wilde’s celebrated quote concerning "sarcasm being the lowest form of wit"

    Burrough Hill Lad…location…Melton Mowbray

When life lands a hammer blow in your face BHL, do your utmost to respond to the hammer as if it had been a cream pie; or more appropriately in your case, a Melton Mowbray pie.

Personally,I will take a Melton Mowbray pie in the face anytime, for a worthy cause.

p.s. BHL, there I was thinking your posts were original and now you openly admit to plagiarism. Deplorable, yet I daresay understandable in your case.

Given the hardness of the crust of a genuine Melton Mowbray pork pie, I would take a cream pie in preference every time, Conundrum … I’m assuming of course that you weren’t making a pornographic reference

As for your second point, clearly if you were a true scholar you would appreciate the difference between flagrant plagiarism and using a quoted source :D

Who’d have thought that "Melton Mowbray" had a porno connotation?

Burrough Hill Lad, yes, remember the name folks, Burrough Hill Lad wrote…..

My, oh my, Burrough Hill Lad, what a short memory you have. You fell, hook, line and sinker into my cunning plan. Hoisted on your own pitard, Burrough Hill Lad.

Do you honestly think I would stoop so low as to accuse you of plagiarism if I did not have solid evidence of your dastardly deed.

Might I be so bold as to remind you of one of your posts from last month, the Francombe thread I believe:-

Hmm, a little bit strong Ken … it’s true that JF can be somewhat of an acquired taste … in common with many other people I’ve met in my life that possess an extraordinary self confidence, there is sometimes a fine line between that self confidence and arrogance … occasionally with JF it seems to spill over into slightly dismissive categorical statements against anyone that maybe hasn’t ridden professionally.

Now far be it from me to kick a man when he’s down or subject him to ridicule and vilification by other forum members but, for the life of me, I see no mention on that earlier post of yours accrediting "renowned industrialist Jack Welch" with your above response.

A simple apology will suffice Burrough Hill Lad. After all, I think even you must admit now that I do recognise the difference between plagiarism and a quoted source. I appreciate that it might be difficult for you to regain any credibility on this forum now that other members will be unable to differentiate between the truth of your words and those that you steal from others but you have only yourself to blame for falling into my spider’s web.

    Ken

Touche, Ken :) … I never realised my posts were so memorable … clearly you have far too much time on your hands in your perverse crusade to rid the forum of every poster save yourself … just imagine when you’re the only one left, you can agree and disagree with yourself according to your moods.

I refer to my original thread response :)

… and btw, for future reference, it was my own "petard" that you perceive I was hoisted on, not "pitard"

Somewhat short of a grovelling apology from you Burrough Hill Lad but no more than I expected.
I have no desire whatsoever to rid the forum of anyone. What on Earth made you think that, for Goodness sake? In fact it would give me great pleasure to see a substantial increase on contributions from people who have more worthwhile and relevant offerings than just simplistic corrections of spelling, grammar or typo errors, do you not agree?
As for having too much time on my hands by trawling through your posts, then surely you, too, would seek to defend yourself if someone on here was pronouncing you as having made false assertions. What’s good for the gooose…..
I sense that all is not well in our recent dialogues and rather than both of us feeling that we have to be minding our P’s and Q’s I hope that we can call an end to hostilities and put aside our preconceived ideas about who we both are as human beings. I bear you no ill-will and I hope you will reciprocate in kind.

Likewise, Ken … we draw a line under it and move on … wishing you a good week
