Anyone heading to Ascot today or tomorrow? Just wondering if anyone has any tips that would be great.
I’m hopefully in one of the hospitality units with these guys http://tinyurl.com/36dhnsq
June 17, 2010 at 05:56 #301373No Enact? Moore declared on Bonny Charlie,
No Hawkeyethe noo (was never going to get in)…
…interesting betting shake-up, no doubt many books could close to a nice profit at this stage.
Laddies Poker Two just about in the race, with Enact out, needs one of Fahey’s to go out too. Probably Murtagh up, as Queally dec’d on another lower down.
Did the Irish owners win anything at Ascot yet?
I am expecting a monster coup on this…dont know if it will win, but guess sp around 6… or less
June 17, 2010 at 10:32 #301423Wanted Kaldoun Kingdom a bit higher than 17, but hey-ho
June 17, 2010 at 18:37 #301573KK looks a bit high in the weights to me, probably would like it a bit softer too.
Evens & Odds has some excellent form in big field handicaps and seems quite adaptable with regard to ground, drawn in the middle though.
Of those drawn high, Secret Asset ran a blinder behind Medicean Man LTO, but this is extremely tough. Equally, Wildcat Wizard was second behind MM at Ascot and is at the foot of the handicap, is in good form at present and could be worth ew. Noverre To Go was also involved in the MM race and won LTO, has C&D form too but may want it softer. Same probably applies to Rileyskeepingfaith.
I would not be surprised at all if Jimmy Styles pulled off another big handicap win, stall 24 is favourable too. Ran a terrific prep race behind Sir Gerry a week ago and loves Ascot. 16/1 is a reasonable price.
June 17, 2010 at 19:05 #301576Yup, Secret Asset’s got a lovely draw and has a 7lb claimer on his back. He’ll do for me.
June 17, 2010 at 19:42 #301590Like Redford for this, not sure about being drawn 8 though, i’ll certainly watch the Golden Jubilee before committing (although Big Timer made previous jockeys tacking away from their draws look absolutely ridiculous with his suprise win). If anyone suits Redfords somewhat awkward style its Spencer.
Slightly off-topic – could Marchad D’or really race off a one lb lower mark in the Wokie than Knot in Wood if he was running in it instead of the Group 1?? I know he’s POSSIBLY regressed a bit, but bloody hell!?
June 18, 2010 at 04:24 #301654Apprentice rides….
I have just been over the last 10 years results, and it seems claiming apprentices have a poor record:
1 win – Buick (5lbs),
0 places, and
2 5th spots. One one hand their time ‘might be due’, on the other they may have little chance, as this stat suggests.
Put yourself in the trainer/owner shoes for a second, for this race, a centrepiece of Ascot week, who would you want to ride…this isnt the 745 at Southwell.
If you are interested in an appy, look at
Marching
, decent foreign form, well drawn, likely up with the pace, and Godolphins rider has proved himself at Group level; regularly. 3lbs off…
June 18, 2010 at 09:10 #301671Laddies… odds taking under weigh… antepost 40 – 14..
now that it is in the race 14 12 11 10… overnight and today (so far)
okay so the stake returns the ‘keep’ of the horse since purchase, the antepost and current ‘strikes’, return the purchase price, more or less.
Now for the ROI, guessing 9 8 7 6 for 100% return on investment. This completes the balance sheet figures..
…now all its got to do is win, my view
Marching
that side the biggest threat
June 18, 2010 at 09:29 #301676Laddies Poker Two was one of the horses I was originally interested in, on the betfair Wokingham thread.
This article will help explain why it later was at a big-price ante-post:-
Favourite Laddies Poker Two to miss Wokingham
By Jon Lees4.54PM 28 MAY 2009LADDIES POKER TWO, who had been installed favourite for the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot, has suffered a setback and will not run in the sprint.
The four-year-old was as low as 12-1 clear favourite with Ladbrokes after the publication of the handicap weights on Wednesday revealed the course-and-distance winner has been allotted 8st 13lb.
However trainer Jeremy Noseda said on Thursday: "She had a little setback at the weekend and will not take her place in the Wokingham."
A new target has yet to be assigned but the two-time winner does hold an entry in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on July 10.
Damn, only just noticed that was 2009!
June 18, 2010 at 09:38 #301678still value at 12 on betfair, even if it is only bet to lay, i am confident will start 7 or 6, as Noseda says; as long as there is no hint of rain…
June 18, 2010 at 09:54 #3016831030 friday … ‘plunge monitor’
…even the magic sign are now 10’s. There might have been a little noblesse-oblige for them to stick it out, fairly sure single figures prior lunch…
Hugh Taylor gives it the green light
June 18, 2010 at 13:16 #301728ok, call me a liar, just after lunch VC & BF 9/1…
looks like we are pretty sure to win the betting race, now gotta walk the walk….
June 19, 2010 at 04:42 #301862Laddies Poker Two.. Last post before the Wokingham;
…give ’em hell Johnny, take no prisoners..tally-ho!!
June 19, 2010 at 08:36 #301878Quite taken by Damien’s 2nd to Markab which looks a good run given his King’s Stand form this week … went on to finish a running on 7th behind four of this afternoon’s Golden Jubilee runners at York … only his 2nd run in a handicap and 25/1 looks good each way value with the Hills team also in good form.
June 19, 2010 at 15:30 #302020well done plunge horse fav backers!

That was fantastic, she’s some filly alright!
How much did they get her for?
The problem for her is, she wont find many races like that in Group company now which will really test her class.
