    Oh come on.

One would have to be utterly devoid of emotion to not be crushed by this spiteful act of social exclusion!

Corm , some mixed views here , how about a yellow card , suspension and then reinstatement as a possibility ,

This bannage is very harsh , I think the whip thing has taught us all lessons , and if your honest , you found yourself in a difficult position as well

Lets have him back at some point please

    Ricky

I agree, a week in the sin bin as a first caution seems less arbitrary than this ‘I don’t like how you said that, so you are outta here’ mentality.
I like Pinza’s impassioned debating style, it stimulates the debate rather than taking from it.

Wait… Why did you agree with Racing Daily when I made the point before he did?

Personally, I would’ve gone for a suspension before striking with the banhammer

Is it because I’m not one of the "old boys"?

    Disgraceful :x

Most importantly, which course would it be held at? Would a new course be built specifically for the event? Would the course then be sold to the BHA or a new renegade body that wanted to compete with same?

The idea of a relay race is getting me excited…

How would the teams be organised?
Would it be the horses who had to be bred in a certain country, the jockeys or both?
Would the horses be trained by the usual trainers or would there one coach for each participating nation?
How would the race be organised?
Would it be a 2m leg followed by 1m4f followed by 1m followed by 6f? Would it be the other way around?
Perhaps a 3m chase followed by a 2m hurdle followed by 1m2f flat and then a sprint?
Do the jockeys have to be amateur?

In all fairness, it’s a much more enticing prospect than the Shergar Cup!

I’m somewhat fresh faced here and as such, my contributions to and time spent on this forum are limited. But I may as well throw in my two cents.

I did have an encounter with Pinza on the subject of Frankie Dettori where he bypassed rational debate and went straight to accusing me of xenophobia. This pretty much quenched my desire to continue the discussion which is a clear example of stifling debate.

Since he didn’t know me, he wouldn’t have known that racism is for me the most deplorable of all isms. I wasn’t born in this country, I have a Bosnian girlfriend and I do not attach any national identity to myself. But the point is that he didn’t know me yet he still thought it appropriate to blatantly offend a new poster to the forum and new posters are what a forum depends on to survive in the long run.

I’m a thick skinned individual and the reason I didn’t post for a few months had nothing to do with Pinza rather I was busy with other things in my life and I’m not that interested in flat racing anyway. However, I can imagine that a fair few newcomers and prospective posters will have been put off by this kind of behaviour.

Nevertheless, Pinza wasn’t a one trick pony and I’ve seen for myself the aforementioned positive traits attributed to the fellow. He’s articulate, knowledgeable, charismatic yadda yadda yadda… and in many ways an asset to the forum. His presence wouldn’t put me off this place and has enhanced it several times. Furthermore, the restriction of free speech is something else which causes me to feel uneasy.

Even so, running and moderating a forum can be a challenging and testing "hobby" so I do not envy Cormack’s position. Also, he knows the real reason why Pinza was binned and furthermore, he is automatically vindicated in whatever decision he makes as it is after all, his forum. If anybody objects strongly enough then there are other places for one to voice one’s opinion.

Personally, I would’ve gone for a suspension before striking with the banhammer but that’s only my opinion and if I’m being completely honest, it’s a mild opinion because let’s face it… There’s a huge world out there beyond the politics of a niche internet forum.

I’ve just come back in from Haydock and I’m still in ecstasy.

I wanted to see him in the parade ring prior to the race and even with a circuit to go in the fixed hurdle race I had to pinch the last place against the barrier.

As impressive as the Pipe horse, Dynaste was save for the connections of the horse, his glorious homecoming was met with polite indifference at best. Everybody came to see Kauto’s last appearance in a parade ring and the crowd was at least 5 deep before he was even saddled. Very few people spoke and those who did chose to do so very quietly. The tension was extraordinarily intense. When Kauto finally did come out to parade, the warm applause he deservedly received already had the lass in tears.

I took my seat in the grandstands and after a circuit, I think everybody was pleased to see Kauto jumping with fluency but as Long Run began to hit a few towards the end of the back straight, the sense that Kauto could be seriously involved in the finished began to take hold. As he jumped four out, the calls of "Come on Kauto" began to rise. Jumping three out, the calls turned to shouts. After two out, the crowd was urging him on with gusto and as he cleared the last, it was pandemonium. The crowd was in rapture, the hands stung with applause and the throats growing rough. Fists punched the air and Racing Posts graced the sky.

As he crossed the line, Ruby slapped the hero and the strangers who surrounded me in the stands were my best friends in the world because we shared a moment few people will ever experience. For at that moment, Kauto Star belonged to each and every single person who was at the course.

The guy next to me backed Long Run and didn’t begrudge the victory one bit. I personally don’t gamble any more but I picked up my biggest ever prize as a punter when he won the Gold Cup in 2007. Even so, that moment just couldn’t compare to what happened today.

I am incredibly lucky to be able to say that I was there and I saw what I saw and this is something I will never take for granted.

It’s all about entries. The trainer is responsible for the horse. If you don’t like the conditions don’t enter the horse. The track will get the message.

What if the race in question is the only suitable opportunity for the horse. Such as in these instances, horses who will be targeted for races at the Cheltenham festival?

    Agree with OP here.

This does not mean he doesn’t care about Rewilding or other horses that have died.

One couldn’t possibly know either way what his innermost feelings are towards stricken horses. However, his countenance definitely conveys an arrogant indifference which is not a good image for either the sport or himself.

Has team Hannon done anything like this before? I ask because I don’t see how they could benefit from such a move. There are still chances available for him to finish closer to Frankel as well as win Group 1s abroad. Besides, he has nothing to prove so it’s not like another 2nd will damage his stud value.

Interesting theory but I’m keeping my wallet in my pocket with this one :)

A shame but I’m glad he got out in one piece and hope that he enjoys a long and happy retirement.

aji – You’re right in saying that Ryan Moore is the consumate professional and will be sorely missed by the sport.

Resorting to ad hominen arguments just makes you look really silly :( So in the interest of fairness, I’m going to stoop down to your level and attempt to "prove" that I’m not a racist by protesting too much :) Erm, let’s see… I’m German born, my last girlfriend was half-Jamaican, my (hopefully) future girlfriend is Indian, I subscribe to New Internationalist, my favourite band is Swedish and get this – both my favourite political song (Bella Ciao) and favourite foods are Italian!!!1?1!

Now if you want to attempt to alter my perceptions then please do. I’m not a pig headed ignoramus and am always happy to admit when I’m wrong (my therapist tells me it’s a sign of maturity). Just over the last 3 months, I’ve changed my beliefs on the whip (I no longer consider it to be an unnecessary instrument of abuse) and am now convinced that Frankel is a superstar.

    Now we’ve had our fun…

Every jockey gets applauded after spending a moment on the ground. It’s part of the decorum of the sport although as per usual, he took it too personally. However, no jockey would appear to be so cheerful after a horse badly breaks down underneath him. Besides, the thumbs up occurred minutes afterwards by which point, both he and the crowd would’ve been aware of the relative wellbeing of horse and rider. Furthermore, this isn’t the first time Frankie has responded in this manner and also, you haven’t explained away his attitude at Goodwood.

I suppose I should also remind you that historically and habitually, other jockeys always tend to respond differently to Frankie in these instances… four of them have already been mentioned in this very thread.

Rage;- Love "Freedom" – "Bulls On Parade" for a show – Killing in teh name… overkilled

GnR; – Would’ve been a great band if Axl’s ego didn’t arrive for their set hours before the band did. Locomotive is still a sweet tune though

    This thread is xenophobic rubbish

You have rumbled me guv’nor! Yes, my vitriolic hatred for Dettori actually stems from that quarter Italian (on her Dad’s side) girl who broke my teenage heart all those years ago. In retrospect, I can’t believe I got away with such transparent racism for so long. Deep down, I must’ve known that my admiration for Christophe Soumillon and Mickael Barzalona was nothing more than a case of hateful homoerotic suppression gone a little too far…

All utter codswallop aside, please explain how Lanfranco

    isn’t

a shamelessly self absorbed primadonna that has no business fronting a sport which is under enough animal welfare scrutiny as it is.

edit;- It doesn’t escape me the fact that Messrs Soumillon and Barzalona are themselves a flashy breed of gentleman. In fact, I find their brands of exuberance to be most enticing. Nevertheless, it should be noted that they each have the defence of youth and until proven otherwise, I very much doubt that either of them would honestly believe that the general public would be more sympathetic towards the slight injury of one of their digits compared to the death of a well-featured racehorse.
