I’m bumping this instead of starting another thread.
Since I first posted this, there has been £359 staked on the horse on betfair, the majority at 25.
I understand that a novice will still be legible for novice races which overlap into the next season through the summer months. Nevertheless, people are still backing him for the RSA chase and even Racing Post analyst Brian Fleming referred to him as a novice.
One of two things is happening here;-
1) Novice Hunter chases, like the one Mossey Joe won at Tipperary on the 29th of April 2010, are not classified as chases for qualification purposes a la PTPs and I’m kicking up a fuss over nothing.
2) Some people need their Betfair accounts closed for their own good and Brian Fleming shouldn’t be in a job he’s clearly not qualified to do. Especially in this time of economic uncertainty and high unemployment.
So what’s going on?
What else can I say other than I’m delighted to have won

Many thanks to Cormack and his team, the forum and to Coolmore for the competition. Special mention goes to Galileo of course

Commiserations to all those who made it such a decent contest although I feel obliged to point out that I wasn’t tiring towards the finish. I was simply idling

I look forward to my prize and indeed I shall tell all how much I’m enjoying it once it’s in my hands.
Kindest Regards
I can confirm BH that you are indeed the only player with those 3 and, with nobody plumping for Tiger Hill, you are in the lead. Lots of players with 2 of the 3 so things can still go wrong in the final day.
Kickass!
It doesn’t look like I have a strong hand tomorrow so I’m just going to enjoy the pride before the fall

Cheers haiga for collaborating and cheers Cormack for competition.
I have the 1st, 2nd and 4th…
Am I in the running???

I was listening to some A*** C*** following the death of their lead singer Seth Putnam. However, their "music" isn’t really appropriate for any forum, let alone this one. Maybe /b/chan and that’s it.
So here’s another song I’ve been listening to today;-
Nick Cave – Mercy Seat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPhUQUDe_jwUtterly pointless in my opinion.
In crudest terms, it’s the establishment telling an individual that it approves of her/him. Acceptance of an honour is a means of an individual stating that they approve of or are at least neutral towards said establishment.
The awarding of honours is often spurious at best and the majority are not handed out on merit, peer commendation or "services for the greater good of humanity".
An honour will never hold sway over whether or not I personally regard someone as a jolly good egg although the rejection of one might go towards said sentiment. Hence my bottom line would be that personally, I see absolutely no point in them.

I find it helps me to relax… which is pretty essential today after learning that Mervyn sodding King has actually been given a knighthood.

3.Oasis DreamQuite often, you’ll find that if a horse is late in switching to fences, it will either be because of some setback or another (Mikael D’Haguenet), the horse hasn’t schooled well enough at home or because the horse wasn’t considered to be an embryonic chaser in the first place and is sent over fences as an afterthought. After all, the majority of top chasers spend only their novice season over hurdles.
As for horses I like going over fences, well the obvious would be ex-pointers in staying chases, ex-French in shorter races, horses with several decent chasers in their pedigree and trainers who know the time of day with chasers and placing. Having said that, I used to like the look of hurdlers who afforded too much air/respect to their obstacles. Sizing Europe being my finest and back in the day (I don’t gamble anymore), most profitable example.
Thanks for the interesting (not flat related) thread

Got me thinking now. The Grand National at Cartmel would be some spectacle!! The Gold Cup at Bangor On Dee & the Champion Hurdle at Southwell. I’ll write to RFC immediately if not sooner!!
Actually, if you squint and use your imagination quite a lot, Cartmel already resembles the Mildmay course… Use the stone walls as obstacles, let ’em run through the woods and have them take on the notorious and fearsome "car park" (taxis who?). The course is
already frequently patronized by D McCain and I’m sure the Moffatts will continue to provide the race with their once a decade 33>50/1 shot. What’s Mr RFC’s number? I’ll call him myself!
Mind you, your other ideas are daft. You can’t hold OUR Gold Cup in Wales and Southwell’s nature of being impossible to pronounce is only begging for a logistical nightmare.
^^^shameless bump^^^
Because I’m
that
interested.
I’m kind of interested in this… Well the first one anyway.
I haven’t got a clue but I can start the bidding at

G3This is such a brilliant thread!
I’ve had an absolutely horrible time of things recently (personal -not horse related) but this story has impacted my heart.
Just goes to show that with hope, perseverance and a little bit of luck, the seemingly impossible can be turned into anything but.
Immense kudos to the forum and to Kevin. I couldn’t be happier for you mate

Indeed, I wasn’t having a dig at you in the slightest. I looked at the race at face value and made my decision to go in on the horse. In the long run, one makes one’s own luck after all.
My post was merely a vent at Johnson’s ride. Especially as I’ve rarely seen a horse pull so hard for so long.
What the fu.ck was Dickhead Johnson doing, pulling all that energy out of the poor bugger?
Especially in such a slow paced "race" on such a nondescript course.
