Not enough for lying to the regulator.
I was gutted when BAAEED failed to win the Champion Stakes last year.
Do we think that was mainly the ground?
Another WOOTTON BASSETT Group 1 winner.
You have to feel a bit for BROOME, who has now had 38 runs. Time to retire him?
I wonder about the strength of the EQUINOX form. Has he been flattered by a visually dominant performance in Meydan?
What did he really beat?
WESTOVER is a second rate winner of two weak Group 1 races. ZAGREY has won a German Group 1 with only six runners. MOSTADAF has been winning Group 1s over a distance shorter (10f) than the Sheema Classic (12f).
The horse is relatively unexposed TBF.
I follow something called Asian Racing Report on Facebook. But I am not sure that would go into enough detail on lower level races?
To be honest, my partner bet through their Bet365 account. Rather than attempting to use the Japanese system!
People seemed to place bets by inserting slips of paper / money into these terminals. But I believe there were also betting counters. There were so many helpful people who I am sure would have been able to explain it.
LIBERTY ISLAND picked up the Triple Tiara yesterday to set up a mouthwatering clash with EQUINOX in the Japan Cup.
On a side note …
Japanese bloodstock is fascinating.
KITASAN BLACK, who stands for £55k, won two G1 races over 2 miles. He won seven G1 races in total, including two over 10f.
The great DEEP IMPACT, who stood for £220k, won two G1 races over 1 mile 7f. He won one G1 over 10f, amongst seven G1 races overall.
DEEP IMPACT’s progeny CONTRAIL, who stands for £66k, won a G1 over 1 mile 7f. Together with two G1 races over 10f. Five G1 races in total.
Thanks @Marlingford 🙏.
Horseracing in Japan is class 👌👌.
Kyoto racecourse was enormous, like an airport terminal. Completely immaculate, with a very polite but engaged crowd.
I got up close to the horses in the parade ring and trackside. Horses were beautifully turned out and looked very well. Some had their manes braided with coloured ribbons. Lots of colourful tack such as yellow bridles and a pink sheepskin noseband! Surprisingly (or not as the case may be) many horses were wearing hoods. I also noticed this in HK.
Saw the grade 2 UZUMASA STAKES (dirt).
Spent way too long (and too much money) in the racecourse gift shop! They had merch in the colours of famous Japanese racehorses: Sodashi, Almond Eye and Contrail etc.
All in all, a fantastic opportunity to see horseracing in another part of the world. Would highly recommend 😊.
Ha ha, thanks. It was confirmed that I secured tickets for 14 October. Very excited!
On a side note, I was at Happy Valley in HK yesterday and had the best time. That is a racecourse on steroids – the sheer scale of the thing 😳😳.
The meeting was well attended, and there was a good atmosphere. But I still got up close to the horses in the parade ring and trackside.
I would post pics, but I don’t know how 🤔.
As a professional athlete subject to a drug testing regime, I would suggest avoiding any medication containing codeine.
At best it’s inadvertent, at worst it’s careless. After all, it’s strict liability for doping offences. So the athlete needs to take all reasonable precautions to avoid a positive.
I googled that medication, Pabron Ace Pro (also called AP Pro), and the first result provided a list of ingredients in English …

I’ve applied for tickets to Kyoto Racecourse on both 14 / 15 October. Find out whether I’ve got them on 11 October 🤞🤞.
Interesting.
Or they’re sired by 12F G1 winners.
High Definition is still entire 🤔.
