Yes Cork, but let’s also give some credit to Roger Varian who is the owner’s best trainer by a country mile. I doubt that any of his other trainers would have handled KOS that successfully.
October 21, 2023 at 16:06 #1667598I like Varian , he,s a very shrewd trainer , fair to say he watches AOB closely
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 21, 2023 at 16:11 #1667599Agree, Varian is top class. He learned from Michael Jarvis, another class act.
October 21, 2023 at 16:12 #1667600Varian certainly gets the most out of the horses he gets
Hopefully king if steel stays in training
Like westover given his size he should be much better at 4
October 21, 2023 at 16:13 #1667602Varian comes over as more the old school of trainer that doesn’t talk up his horses with hyperbole and is much more considered in his comments.
October 21, 2023 at 16:25 #1667606Fry in the NH ranks is the same , he makes few mistakes
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 21, 2023 at 16:33 #1667614Another WOOTTON BASSETT Group 1 winner.
October 21, 2023 at 17:53 #1667630I agree with the Varian comments, he’s a trainer that I like to follow. Sadly not on this occasion, but King Of Steel is a likeable winner
October 22, 2023 at 15:17 #1667787King Of Steel is better than I thought he was. His mass would have taken some power to haul through that ground. I wonder if they will keep him too easy ground though given how prone big horses can be to injury
