While my post received four pages of response it was nice to be referred to as dear old(80+)andyod.Yes I was the first to make the band wagon available now I am patiently waiting for Joseph to grow into a fine young jockey.Which will happen first,my departure or Joseph’s bloom remains in the hands of the gods.

With the changes going on with Godolphin and the arrival of the Qatar money we are finding out that there are quite a few trainers who know how to do the job. There are trainers in Ireland who would fill the O’Brien role, given the horses.

A brother of mine has always insisted that a sign similar to that on cigarettes warning about the risk involved with racing should be hung outside each race track.

    Steeplechasing
"He wasn’t consciously held up, nor nursed along, or cunningly slipped through a gap, or delivered right on the line as perhaps an extreme idler would have been. He went as fast as he could throughout and that happened to be good enough on the day…imo, of course"
I agree ,however sadly that was good enough on the day, that was all that was needed to beat the best horse without a proper jockey.

So tell me why did Johnny leave? Or was he shown the door? If the good jockeys can’t stand the pressure, there must be more pressure than any other riding assignment. If so why? I have watched the Ballydoyle horses going down to the start in the BC races.Aidan is following every horse on to the track.Aidan puts presssure on everyone. Both Fallon and Murtagh had no problem with pressure. In fact that was what turned them on.They were better with pressure.Murtagh is a wonderful example of a person who handles pressure. He was champion rider at Ascot even after he left Ballydoyle. So what is the problem with Aidan?

As for John Magnier; do you really believe he is responsible for the hiring and firing of Roach,Kinane,Fallon,Spencer,Murtagh? Champions all. What need to go looking for a new jockey? What exactly does Magnier want? A man who has watched the greatest jockeys in the world riding for Ballydoyle now want an overweight son of a close friend to ride in those colors? It boggles the mind.

"We live and learn it won’t happen again"… Joseph O’Brien. That is the excuse for the owners to mull over.No accepting responsibility for what happened. He is only the jockey. One cannot help wondering what this callow youth lived and learned.

what did Joseph take from the race? "but we live and learn. It won’t happen again.” Can you imagine another jockey who lost a big race offering that to the trainer and owner as a comment on losing? Most jockeys would lose their job after a performance like that.Complete arrogance from a you can’t fire me guy.

That is exactly the problem. If destined to win one cannot believe when it doe not happen.Riding becomes a matter of faith not reason.Good versus evil.Sometimes the bad guys win!Nobody is responsible. God knows best.

The Ballydoyle boy genius already has a much better strike rate than Lester.A strike rate that has Aidan and all of us in shock.

To be quite honest I cannot recall Lester throwing away group races like Joseph does.Camelot, Magician, Tapestry and now the super horse Australia.Sure a lot of wonderful horses for a very young man.No? Perhaps too young for that king of responsibility.

"Joseph O’Brien’s controversial QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes ride on Australia yesterday evening has taken another twist with confirmation that the champion jockey weighed in 1lb heavy after the odds-on favorite’s defeat"… Irish Examiner.

It has been reported that Joseph O’Brien weighed in at 1lb overweight in the Champion Stakes.Apparently gained weight by racing for over a mile.Since he weighed out with the correct weight that is some miracle. If he weighed out overweight they must announce it to bettors. No? Seems like the scales man needs to stay awake.

How much does the defeat of Camelot and Australia cost Coolmore in super horse stud fees? Does it come out of Josephs pocket or does he have no responsibility for the consequences of his riding.Joseph rode his usual fear filled ride.He rode not to lose.Should ride to win.
