Novice with strong handicap form back in a novice, always a useful combination..
I’d be very keen on
as long as there was anything with soft in the going description, being by Celtic Swing the softer the better.
Came to hand early last year when winning the Spring Mile in decent style and only 7lbs higher on a rating of 96 meaning he should get in.
Was unlucky on at least a couple of other occasions which is always a danger given his style of running.
May prefer shorter but he travels like a dream and if he can be held on to long enough I think he could go close.
14 to 16/1 wouldn’t really tempt me at this stage though.

Hopefully he enjoys rest of his career and stays safe, won’t be watching
Just writing!
Congratulations Chrissy, i’d like to say it was close but you won hard held

Special thanks to Bob for all the time and effort that you must put in to make it such a wonderful competition.
NH
Walnut Wonder – ridden by Lorna Vincent, always seemd to pop up on a Saturday in those Orange and Brown colours??
Wayward Lad – In his prime he’d take 2 lengths from his rivals at every fence.
Out Of The Gloom – Top Novice in 84/85 for Reg Hollinshead went on to win Fighting Fifth and Long Walk, went to Pipe later on.
Flat
Ela Mana Mou – Great name, great horse.
Morgans Choice – Always seemed to win when Willie Carson was up
Tyrnavos – In those wonderful Black and White spotted silks, I backed him religiously except for when he won the Irish Derby at 25/1 (I think)
Looking back most of my favourite horses are back when I first started with my 5p bets around the aged of 11/12, not sure what that says.
5.50 Master Of Hounds
6.30 Wise Dan
7.15 Rose Catherine
7.55 Uncle Mo
8.40 Paco Boy
9.20 Tizway
10.00 Dangerous Midge
10.45 Lookin At Lucky (NAP)8:10 Alcomo
8:50 Winter Memories
9:30 Champagne D’Oro
10:10 R Heat Lightning
10:50 Red Desire (NAP)
11:30 Life At TenLooking at the head-on footage, you can only assume the poor jockey is agrophobic, needing to dive for cover everytime a gap appeared.
So do Paddy Power
If he’d won his last 2 races by 3 or 4 lengths instead of 23 lengths no one would be questioning whether he’d train on or not and given his connections he’d have still be high up in the Derby lists if not favourite.
Haven’t had such a buzz about a 2yo since Gorytus.
I always remember Decoupage hacking up in the Tote Gold Trophy in 1999 as it was the first ‘proper’ bet I had had;
as I was only 14 I had given £150 to my dad to put on
at 6/1 and spent the majority of the race listening to football commentary on the radio as I couldn’t bare to watch.
Your Dad put your £150 on for you??
My Dad loved a bet and I was allowed to bet from an early age (10 or 11) but that was 2x5p singles and a 5p double on a Saturday!!
The bet that gave me most satisfaction, was Maori Venture winning the National, not because I had that much on but because I’d just started my first job and told everyone there who’d listen to back it.
Talk about instant popularity

Loved ‘When I child Is Born’ always bought a tear to my eye.
Sorry for the chronic after timimg, but……
although I didn’t have all 4 up, did get 3 of the 4 as a teenager for a 5p Lucky 15 which returned over £300, cant’t remember the 4th except it was a Jenny Pitman horse.
Chrysaor 16/1
Playschool 11/1 (novice chase before he hit the heights)
That’s Your Lot 25/1 (trained by John Francombe, was a down the field favourite the week before in a juvenile hurdle)
I was popular in the 6th Form that term!
As for Rip…for such a supposedly good horse…he sure gets beat a lot.
"Oh, and Forest had a shocker today "
Tell you what shocking is, conceding goals in the 92nd and 95th minute to only draw a game you’ve dominated against the league leaders.
The trials and tribulations of being Forest and Derby fans!
Gary Hind now that’s a blast from the past, was a good friend of my brother’s when he was an Apprentice at Reg Hollinshead’s and my brother was a stable lad.
Glad to see he’s doing well.
