Im newish and to be honest i have always been happy at how i have been treated but i do believe there is a litlle bit of a snobbish element on this and all forums.
When i say that i refer to the 5 stars next to most of your names, but the 1 next to mine etc etc. I often feel people only look for the comments of those they know.
I guess its understandable but it is quite annoying at times.
No offence intended.
i personally prefer atr and like some of the people on there. chapman is amusing imo
my favourites are adrianmassey and horseracebase.com
adrianmassey is well documented and of course its free which is superb!
horseracebase is fairly new but seriously worth checking out – i have been using it a good while and would definitely recommend it. its donation based
i do like the racing post but more and more they seem to be pushing services of tipsters etc. just my opinion though
i like atttheraces cause of the free videos
get rid of them then i guess!! think i like the wino option best! give a bit back to the community!

thanks for comments
Managed to do this at the 8th attempt but only going for 10 in a row, so it is possible but ultimately not worthwhile! All i did was find horses i believed to be certain to be placed and accumulated.
So 7 losses of £20 = £140
But the accum i won with paid £129
So taking the eighth stake off – a loss of £31
So a total waste of time experiment but at least i can write it off!
is there a site which tells you how ratings are calculated, id like to understand better the different types. is there 4 types of official ratings? turf, all weather, chase and hurdle??
horseracebase has past winners of nearly all the big races.
cool i will add this to my races and see how it works out
Just to let you know this site has now added a feature that tells you the hottest races based on subsequent two runs of each horse! So for example the top 10 hottest maidens of the last 365 days are –

It may well work in patches but in the long run it will be found out.
On a day when no favourites win in 10 races your stake is going through the roof. 5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280, 2560This means that on a day when it goes to your 10th bet, you are risking £2560 on a horse purely because its a favourite. Not to mention you are at that stage down £2555 already. If that loses you are over £5100 down and need to find another £5200 to keep going.
All systems that involve the stake spiralling out of control are bound to come unstuck at some point. Its the same as continually doubling up on red at the casino and presuming that black wont come out 10 times in a row.
very helpful. thanks
actually my email acount is for some reason not working. can you just post it please.
very interesting read. i admire your dedication!
id say in the long run the experience makes it all so worthwhile, id like to do it myself one day, not as a profit making scheme (although obviously thats a bonus!) but purely cause i think it would be a fantastic experience.
Cool thanks. Ive noticed that there are just some really random races that find winners. Particularly bumpers in Ireland!
The facility i use is on horseracebase.com – they have a surprising amount of useful stuff on there.
Also have a follow race thing where you can check the subsequent results of any race since 1997. Thats why im looking for some ideas of which races to check and see have worked out well!
I guess going forward i can look at race results as they come in, look at their previous race and do it that way.
Sorry but can you send me a PM or something too.
Id like to know the alternative you are thinking of!!
Does it cost?
He still will be remembered as one of the greats. Just as George Best is in football and many others who have had personal issues.
I lost a load on Harchibald one day. Ill never forget how confident i was. Lesson learned!
