In the interview I heard he didn’t seem to know much about the horse at all.
March 16, 2025 at 09:05 #1724196His unraced horses seemed very competent jumpers and Mullins knew full well they were up to the task as opposed to the rabble some trainers sent round in a juvenile hurdle at Wetherby earlier in season
The way his winners over the last few years have kicked on in later seasons suggests he don’t burn them out trying to get them there either .March 16, 2025 at 09:18 #1724199“In the interview I heard he didn’t seem to know much about the horse at all.”
David Casey probably trains him, he was bought as a potential Melbourne Cup horse.
March 16, 2025 at 10:47 #1724210The racecourse management really needs to have a rethink.
Before this juvenile contest they had a live singer, loud music. Smoke and flags waving about as the horses entered the parade ring.
This adds nothing to the occasion and effects the temperament of young horses. Some were visibly agitated by it all and actually went back out of the parade ring into the pre parade ring to escape the noise.
Complete idiotic decision and it no doubt effected the result. Shambolic.
March 16, 2025 at 19:09 #1724250Interested to hear MC option Greenasgrass .
Makes sense , horse has the finishing speed required , Bloom just brought big share in Melbourne Victory FC , i think he won a poker tournament there back in day too.
He sent out Withdraw few years back but he bled in Geelong Cup , still only got beat 4 lengths though .
Mullins has done well travelling horses to Australia , True Self won a couple races , Max Dynamite should have won , Absurde has been very good and even Vauban he just needed more time on OZ to acclimatise thats all .
Just a matter of getting flat ratjng up enough or I could see him bolting up in a lead up ballot free race .March 16, 2025 at 21:22 #1724260Has a horse ever won the Triumph before without running in a hurdle race first? I still can’t believe that so many inexperienced horses got round safe but the past two Champions hurdlers came a cropper.
March 18, 2025 at 08:29 #1724325Thanks Kendicate, I didn’t know that. It sounds almost as crazy as the decision to let off fireworks at Epsom just before the Derby in 2022. Still the stupidest thing I have ever seen or heard on a racecourse.
