I get fed up with the Mullins cheap shots all the time – granted the Vautour debacle was not great PR for Team Mullins but then we are dealing with live animals and the best laid plans and all that can go south at any time and unfortunately sometimes at the 11th hour.
We don’t like when connections say nothing so we crticise them and then when they do give us tentative plans only for it to fall through we criticise them – is it any wonder he now tries to answer these question by not really answering them with any definitive plans. If you don’t know by now that Mullins will leave his decisions to the last possible moment then you really should not be betting ante post on his horses.
I agree that whilst it is worrying that his price has drifted you could argue that he is now around the price he should have been from the very start, given that what he faces on his first run back off a significant injury is a likely to be a trial by fire against race fit G1 rivals rather than a leisurely stroll in the Irish countryside.
As Ham said if his price had continued on the slide right out to 4s, 5s or bigger then you know there is a very good chance he ain’t coming.
December 7, 2017 at 10:17 #1330760No douvan, no un de sceaux
Only 4 declared
December 7, 2017 at 10:18 #1330761Only 4 runners declared. No Mullins horse in the race.
December 7, 2017 at 10:18 #1330762Haha Ham. You mustve had AttheRaces on.

Yes, i hear they have re-opened the race again also
December 7, 2017 at 10:41 #1330768No UDS surely means he’s suffered a setback and won’t be going for the Hilly Way, I wonder will they throw Min in?

That might happen you never know.
December 7, 2017 at 10:45 #1330770Predictably no Douvan, mustnt have worked brilliantly and therefore might take easier option on hillyway chase as he did last year. Anyone who was stupid enough to back him for this race antepost deserves to lose their money and has no cause for complaint.
Unless Mullins declares something else when the race reopens then its Fox Norton all the way

Youd think its more than likely douvan will miss both than uds, we will know shortly…

They’ve said they’d like to run Un De Sceaux in Cork, where his owners are from, so I wouldn’t be worried about him unless he’s absent from tomorrow’s Hilly Way declarations.
December 7, 2017 at 10:49 #1330773Ridiculous state of affairs and I’m sure excuses will be made by Matt Chapman and others for Ricci stating openly, confidently but unnecessarily that Douvan was a very likely runner in this. The guy is a tool.
“ Willie said to me the other day that the big horse gets on the boat, that means he’s heading for the Tingle Creek “Apparently three more entered now that neither Mullins horse is runining.

Agree with that in regards to backing douvan antepost for this, as i said at the start of the thread, its a big ask sending him over here FTO and mullins always left the door open to pull him, he always said “its the plan” he never said “hes running” he gave enough indication that he might not run …
I dont think there was much foul play on the exchanges as he never drifted enough, going to 13/8 ish isnt cause to say it was obvious…

They never said he was a definite runner….. they said it was the plan and it was clearly stated on sunday, he had “””crucial””” pieces of work to do before it was decided
People pick and choose what to pick up on and clearly like to piece together there own state of affairs
This was the same phonecall ricci gave early indication that annamkx was out for the season.
December 7, 2017 at 10:54 #13307774/5 to 15/8 is a pretty big drift in the context of the race. Questions need to be asked about why this phantom money hit the market (and where it came from) before an announcement was made to the betting public and betting industry.
December 7, 2017 at 10:55 #13307786 declared with Paddy Power.
Fox Norton, Politologue, San Benedeto, Ar Mad, Ordinary World, Sir Valentino
December 7, 2017 at 10:56 #1330779The other possible reason why “the big lad won’t get on the boat” is the fact that there is currently a storm over the Irish sea with conditions described as very rough at sea for the next Two days. He would most likely would have been travelling by boat from rosslare to Fishguard and there is a weather warning in place. Wouldn’t be great preparation for a comeback run in grade one company.

Ham what I mean is since UDS doesn’t go for the Tingle Creek, I assume Douvan has suffered a setback, not UDS. UDS full steam ahead for the Hilly Way I imagine.
With all the superstar horses they have for the 2 mile division it would be a real shame if we don’t see one of them in the Tingle Creek.
