Who was that judge who used to refer to Nicky Henderson as ‘the criminal’ in all posts on here?

    He must be buzzing now.

Loads of trainers are really coy when it comes to veterinary problems. “He’s had a little issue/setback” is just about all you hear most of the time. Not “Grade 3 laryngeal paralysis apparently. Bugger. He’s had a tieback+Hobday, let’s hope it doesn’t fall to bits”. “Tinkered with his palate” could mean the thing was smothering him half to death and he’ll fly up the run in next time, or it could mean the horse just isn’t as good as the price they paid for it and they’re fiddling about in the faint hope of making a difference. A “wee knock” could be nothing or it could be a fractured carpal bone. “Pulled a muscle” in trainerspeak can mean just that, or they’ll announce a stuffed suspensory in a couple of weeks’ time. It’s annoying when you’re looking at AP bets.

Good memory Boz. Must’ve been Zark – he’s already firing off tweets.

Most disturbing of all from a punting viewpoint is that Henderson first suspected something on Saturday and did not make it public until Wednesday evening ON HIS BLOG for Unibet

That was the thing I found most unsettling – that he broke the news through a bookmaker. This came after the bookies had been slashing prices on the other Tingle Creek contenders when something was clearly amiss.

Nicky has been robustly defending himself on Friday. He threatened to name people in the media he is not happy with but apparently “Changed my mind”

“Chickened Out” might have been a more accurate description.

Nicky said the horse made a “Whistling noise”

Maybe Nicky made a whistling noise himself? This one perhaps

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Douvan confirmed to be going here. Into 9/4.

Dex I who confirmed that? And I’d highly doubt it as Mullins usually doesn’t confirm anything until the 48 hour declarations

    “Douvan heading for Tingle Creek

Douvan has been pleasing us at home and I was very happy with the work he did during the week. We hadn’t decided where he’d start off his campaign but that has changed and the likelihood now is he’ll go to Sandown for the Tingle Creek next month.”

Confirmed is probably the wrong word to use.

Also in the article he said that UDS could start off in this or the Hilly Way.

Misquoting like that is by far and away the main reason why Mullins and Ricci get accused of changing targets and misleading people when the reality is that people make false assumptions based on comments on horses targets such as “probably, possibly, potentially, might” those words are very important . Douvan has not been confirmed for any race. Last year UDS started in this and Douvan started in Cork, I’d guess it will be the same this year.

I would also be unsurprised if Douvan started in the Hilly Way. Maybe he only threw those big crazy leaps in the QMCC because his pelvis was already hurting him; but if the big occasion and the English fences rattled him a bit too then best start the season in Cork then move on to something like the Clarence House.

Best laid plans and all that can change on a daily basis when working with any kind of trained athletes and if trainers had to comment everytime a horse has or might have an issue (no matter how serious) he would most likely spend all of his time preparing statements for social media/press.

Maybe not being a big ante post bettor I am being naive but I don’t think Henderson really has much if anything to answer for in this regard – maybe he should have realised the optics of releasing the info through his blog but the likelyhood is that no matter what way the news was released, betting companies (through their own sources or from suspicious betting patterns) would have gotten wind of it ahead of time and the same outcome would have happened re prices going out/coming in.

I hate the fact that the first thing most people assume is that there was automatic collusion between a trainer and bookie to screw over the punters but in this day and age I guess that is sadly to be expected.

Fully expect to be ripped for this view but such is life.

I like hendo and i dont think he meant it, but for whatever reason they got the news hours before the punters, could have been someone in the stable etc, i dont think he intentionally did anything wrong

But what happened one way or another was way wrong… unfortunately its his yard so he would be the target even if he had 0 to do with it

I’m on Cloudy Dream at 7/2 for the Schloer at Cheltenham today. I suppose he could well run at Sandown if all goes well and here’s hoping it does as I’m a big fan of this horse.

I hope he and Fox Norton don’t get too hard a time today as they have to face whatever Willie sends over for the Tingle Creek in not too many weeks. I had spare bonus bet money that needed used so backed Vaniteux w/o FN, just in case. Cheekpieces are back on him today I see.

Cracking race Fox Norton ran there! They seemed to be going a good clip despite the ground- round of applause for Special Tiara taking it by the scruff and keeping on fighting at the finish.
